Vucic's upcoming Moscow trip "of utmost importance"

According to a statement issued by the president's office, Chepurin said that the visit is "of the utmost importance for relations between Serbia and Russia," and that it will contribute to "further strengthening the comprehensive cooperation between the two countries."

Vucic said that the meeting with Putin will be important for talks on specific proposals for improving political dialogue, as well as economic, military-technical and every other cooperation between the Republic of Serbia and the Russian Federation.

It is expected that the two presidents will discuss other topics - from regional relations to the political and economic situation in the world, the statement said, adding that during his visit to Russia, Vucic will also speak with many Russian officials and businesspeople.

Chepurin also gave Vucic a letter from the Federation Council Chairwoman Valentina Matviyenko, who recently visited Belgrade, that said, among other things:

"The constructive and above all open exchange of views on issues of mutual interest confirmed that the expansion of Russian-Serbian ties in all areas corresponds to the national interests of the two countries. Our meeting has once again shown a mutual interest to develop multi-directional and mutually beneficial cooperation between Russia and Serbia, based on principles of fraternal friendship, respect, and taking into account the interests of both sides, and provided the opportunity to chart further steps to intensify bilateral ties, including those on the international stage."
