An elderly man has committed suicide on the grave of the first Croatian president, Franjo Tudjman, the Croatian website Index is reporting on Monday.

The police "only confirmed that an investigation is underway," said the report.

Meanwhile, funerals are taking place as scheduled at the graveyard.

Tudjman was in power from 1990 until his death in 1999, and was a major actor in the wars of Yugoslavia's disintegration.
