A police spokesman in the southern Serbian town of Vranje on Monday confirmed that a local businessman, who was found dead, has been murdered.

Local businessman in south killed with shot to forehead

Spokesman Dragan Stamenkovic told Beta that the case was a priority for the police in Vranje, and that "intensive work" was being done to identify the perpetrator - but that there were no suspects for the time being.

Stamenkovic said the local police received a report on Sunday evening that a passer-by had discovered Peric's body. He also "ruled out domestic violence" - and noted that the victim "had not reported receiving threats in the past," the agency reported.

The police in Vranje said Peric was killed using a firearm, with a bullet "to the forehead area of the head" - and characterized this as "a classic murder."
