Let’s get it straight, the US is BROKE with its official debt at 16.45 trillion in debt, but its the corporation that are investing not the US Government – I hope you know the difference.

If they're broke, I wonder why worldwide Financial Institutions as well as the Chinese struggle every single day to buy their bonds even with the lowest interest rates ever reached ..???? whereas nobody is enough mentally sick to lend a single dinar to Serbia LOL except Russians of course...under so harsh conditions that 2 years of negotiations were needed...

Do not bother World Powers, they don't know you and don't care about you, they were there before you and will after you're gone.

One can only shake one’s head at this Albanian disguised as a German. Let’s get it straight, the US is BROKE with its official debt at 16.45 trillion in debt, but its the corporation that are investing not the US Government – I hope you know the difference.

What a pathetic comment !! Are the tens of millions of US companies all due to care about balkan politics ??

And BTW aren't the US broke and bankrupted, how the hell do they manage to invest in Serbia ?? So much for your famous malaysian sources LOL...

sj, I know your question was rhetorical, but anyway - businesses don't give a damn about politics, unless they can use it to make money. So nobody's going to move factories to Kosovo* out of political solidarity because they may have roots in the US.

Work would be even cheaper in Kosovo* these days, but legal insecurity, a largely unskilled workforce, and bad infrastructure (think transport & electricity) are very difficult to compensate.

Good to see that something like an automotive cluster is emerging in central Serbia. That should also improve the region's resilience against problems in that one industry a little.

A certain percentage of the manufacturing of the cars has to be done in Serbia to qualify for the Russia-Serbia free trade agreement which was signed during the Milosevic government.

If you have some lighthouse-investements, like this big FIAT car factory, it will attract dozens of suppliers in the vicinity.

Some regular commentators here on B92 would have you believe that the serbian economy has already collapsed. Drugs are too cheap.
