First learn how to spell and then learn the demography of Presevo, Vojvodina and Sandzak. 75%of the population in Vojvodina are serbs and a big majority of the population in Sandzak and Presevo is serbian aswell so why compare them to Kosovo?
(Daniel, 21 December 2012 09:08)
So the demography matters when we talk about 75% serbs in Vojvodina but it does not matter when we talk about 95% albanians in Kosovo? Serbs should compare Kosovo to Catalonian model or any other model they want but nobody should compare Presevo,Vojvodina and Sandzak to anything.
pre 13 godina
Rest assure that whatever you serbs will try to get for the serbs in Kosovo we albanians will try to get for our people in Presevo.
(Mark, 21 December 2012 01:10)
You tried that in 2001. You failed. You tried it in Macedonia. You failed. No one supported you in either case. You tried to take over northern Kosovo last year. You failed again. I'm detecting a pattern. But if it makes you feel good to posture on the internet with threats everyone knows you can't make good on because you're angry someone somewhere in the world is making it clear they don't want to live in an Albanian Fantasyland and you feel your side needs to have the last word since taking what you took from Kosovo wasn't enough to satisfy your ego, then by all means troll away :)
pre 13 godina
I don't recall any of the local populations in any of those communities in N. Kosovo outside the extreme nationalist fringes calling for secession or independence.
(icj1, 21 December 2012 05:29)
99.74% of the population is kind of hard to ignore. But I guess you're right. They weren't calling for secession or independence from Kosovo because Kosovo's institutions are non-existent there to begin with and it would be kind of silly for them to call for secession and/or independence from Serbia, the country that is represented there :)
pre 13 godina
Pristina has already dismissed Serbia's so-called Kosovo platform and said that it should be "filed away... like all the other failed projects".

the Serbian authorities demand a high level of territorial and political autonomy for the Serb municipalities, "modeled after Catalonia"
Let's see first how this Catalonian model works for Presevo,Vojvodina and Sandzjak.

First learn how to spell and then learn the demography of Presevo, Vojvodina and Sandzak. 75%of the population in Vojvodina are serbs and a big majority of the population in Sandzak and Presevo is serbian aswell so why compare them to Kosovo?
By the way the most powerful bosniaks from Sandzak are highly positioned within the parliament, such as Rasim Ljajic for example and they have never ever said anything about separating from Serbia.

The proposal is of course excellent and I have no idea why Albanians find it so problematic since it doesn't affect them at all. Of course, however, it is correct that it is a bit much to ask for this deal but then say you'll continue to "never" recognise Kosovo. That *is* a problem - surely the point of a solution in which the Serb communities in Kosovo get a maximalist internal position - including with links to Serbia - is that acceptance of it should mean should precisely lead to recognition, ie, the proposal is for a solution, not continuaito of a stalemate. Hopefully though this aspect of the proposal is merely the ambit claim, the bargaining position, that will be forgotten about when cooler heads prevail, on both sides.
pre 13 godina
More total recognition of Kosovo independence from Serbia. Customs and ambassadors and this autonomy for Serbs in a supposed Serb province! No one supports Kosovo independence more than Dacic.
pre 13 godina
Well as I said before, Serbian zones across the province need to remain fully under Serbia
(Ari Gold, 20 December 2012 17:12)

Exactly, and the same holds true for the Serbs in North Kosovo. I don't recall any of the local populations in any of those communities in N. Kosovo outside the extreme nationalist fringes calling for secession or independence.
pre 13 godina
Kosovo is Kosova "that's the compromise" Kosova is neither Albanian. Kosovo is neither Serbian. All people's are equal. No speacial status for anyone.
That's your solution.
Once one starts introducing certain variables especially from outside there will never be a just "compromise"
Nikolic's or Serbia's stupidity is reflected here for all to see.

Are the serbs in Kosovo "local population" or "extreme nationalists"? Rest assure that whatever you serbs will try to get for the serbs in Kosovo we albanians will try to get for our people in Presevo. The international community has not reacted because we haven't blocked roads or killed any cops in Presevo yet, like you have done in Kosovo. When we start retaliating the same way you do in Kosovo things will change. If this platform is good for the serbs in Kosovo than it should be applied to all other minorities in Serbia as well.
pre 13 godina
It's an undeniable fact that the cultural heritage of Serbia lies in Kosovo. Given over 3000 Serbian orthodox christian landmarks and tens of thousands of clergymen and women, and Serb locals maintining their christian traditions in Kosovo, it is by far the right, privilege and great honor of probably every Serb to rest his/her remains there. As part of the European continent Serbia as well as Kosovo deserves better. The disputed land itself is a landmark of European, let alone christian liberty; it is the parent of middle age Roman Catholic renaissance and the Anglo-Saxon Protestant reformation. Without the struggle of these brilliant Serbian people against militant, fundamentalist and barbaric hords from the east none of the two mentioned European events would have been possible. I can only imagine how it would be for me not to be able to rest and conclude my life in my own native Britain alongside the great Englishmen this earth bore thanks to the brave hearts of the Serbian people, the hearts of liberty. My best wishes go to our brethren!!! Fight on Mr. Nikolic!!!

This platform is not new at all. I'm fairly certain Nikolic agreed to it a long time ago and it is basically what I heard from certain "internationals" in Belgrade about a year ago.
(Zoran, 20 December 2012 19:08)
Oh make no mistake about it. The "internationals" have long been in favor of an "autonomous" northern Kosovo for years, especially in Brussels. Forget what Washington wants or Pristina thinks. The first isn't in the EU and the second has never been taken seriously by the EU. Thaci is going to reject it outright only to be "forced" to concede to it in a few months like he was "forced" to concede on UNMIK's continued presence in the north, tacitly accepting the reality of "parallel" institutions in the north, and accepting the Ahtisaari Plan, which this solution is based on. We all know the "international community's" only interest in Kosovo is to keep it a separate entity from the rest of Serbia, while happily carving away whatever is left of its internal sovereignty to the point of making a bone of contention to everyone outside of the Albanian diaspora and extreme nationalist fringe.
You've been to RS, right? You've been to northern Kosovo and Gracanica right? Pretty much the same. That's the reality most of these Albanians of the diaspora either fail to recognize or refuse to accept as "reality". But what do I care what they think? They don't live in Kosovo or have the ability to pressure Thaci to "concede" to something they've already been told to accept :)

Well done Mr president Nikolic
(Albanian Farmer, 20 December 2012 17:52)
Poverty is widespread in Kosovo i Metohija. And corruption and crime is more than any other part of Serbia but also any other place in the Balkans. Poverty and crime will drive not only Serbs, but also Albanians away the first chance families get to leave.
It was for a while considered common knowledge that there are 2 million Albanians in Kosovo i Metohija. But recent reports say that there are not even 2 million people in the province and the number of Albanians is closer to 1.4-1.5 at the most.
I know you like to believe that despite the temporary occupation in place that somehow Serbs are the reason your living standards are so sh** but you have been fooled. I know you believe that ethnic cleansing and cultural genocide is exactly what is needed but you just delusional.
You keep farming old boy, but you'll need to plow a lot more fields to catch up to Thaci & Co.'s worth. Man oh man did they play you.

(Ardi Asllani, 20 December 2012 17:41)
I don't think I'm a warmonger because I say the Serbian population in Kosovo i Metohija must be protected at all costs. Remember, it is not Serbs trying to impose their rule on Albanians but the other way around. Your not calling for war if you believe in the idea of self defense and any normal country would agree.
Now you saying we will "lose more territory" is interesting because you are in fact implying Kosovo i Metohija is our territory after all, I would agree with you there.
But actually, you wont be deciding if Serbia loses more territory. Unfortunately, strong external powers have taken a strong interest in the Balkans at Serbia's expense. This is not something any people on the Balkans could get around and its the reason why things are the way they are.
However, if your implying the West will be there forever just because you want them to...well I'd disagree. The thought of bombing Belgrade in 99 was acceptable but here we are 14 years later and that would be out of the question due to the current geo-political reality. And what Western policy dictates today will be impossible 14 years from now.
pre 13 godina
But like I said before, I have no doubt it will be firmly rejected because Kosovo's Albanian leadership, told to by America, are still under the delusion they control the entire internationally-run province :)

My God, these Albanians and their supporters are as thick as they come. They can't comprehend what is being said here and in fact, they missed the key sentence in what Branko Ružić said yesterday.
So let the Albanians miss this opportunity because it only gets worse from here.
This platform is not new at all. I'm fairly certain Nikolic agreed to it a long time ago and it is basically what I heard from certain "internationals" in Belgrade about a year ago. True, there are some slight modifications but they may just be bargaining points.
There is a lot of spin here but if the Serbs found out what was really going on, there would be mass protests on the streets. However, to read Albanians rejecting this outright is a complete joke. But then, they are really good at shooting themselves in the foot.

But I digress. Let's look beyond the rhetoric and examine the substance. This solution basically indirectly recognizes Kosovo's independence, or at least it's no longer being part of Serbia outside the Serb municipalities. Considering leaders meet in the same room and attempt to work out problems they constantly blame the other side for perpetuating, I'd say "recognition" at least comes with "realizing they are beyond our control but we want to retain influence over those areas and people that are beyond *their* control as well". Hence the call for autonomy - haha a word which in itself implies the surrounding regions are outside Serbia's authority.

LOL I guess it takes a "Fantasyland" solution for an American supported Fantasyland project. Nearly 5 years into this farce and Kosovo* is barely better off than it was previously (if by "better off" you only measure the absence of Serbian military units harassing Albanian civilians and overlook Albanian "military units" harassing Serbian civilians). I don't see what's a step backwards concerning nothing in the document is related to the Albanians' daily lives and interests and before Serwer was bought out by the "Kosova" lobby around 2005 he advocated something similar to this. In fact, it's basically an enhanced Ahtisaari Plan. I'm sure immediate rejections will come from the predictable sources, but it's nice to see my government is basically writing off 80% of Kosovo in return for keeping the salvageable 20%. Now all we have to do is wait for the international guardians of peace and democracy to screw this up and the clowns in Pristina to issue more threats :)

Nikolic!!!

"The platform also requests that smaller enclaves, such as villages, be given a status of municipalities and a SPECIAL STATUS
Serbians are special LOL
This will never work
pre 13 godina

Despite what everyone feels they are entitled to, peace should be given the first chance for the sake of our futures. But if you reject this compromise then war is truly the better option than being wiped off the map like you would want.
Everyone wants to put the past behind and move forward, but if Serbia's only option is war or ethic cleansing & cultural genocide then the first option will be eventually taken. Regretfully too, but what can you do? No responsible country will let a minority try to wipe them off the map.

No more than Hash and the rest of the gang boasting how Kosovo is the land of democracy and the rule of law and then refusing to grant any additional concessions to the Serbian minority they weren't previously forced to grant by the international community.
Autonomy for our side = you don't bother us.
Independence for you = we don't bother you.
But like I said before, I have no doubt it will be firmly rejected because Kosovo's Albanian leadership, told to by America, are still under the delusion they control the entire internationally-run province :)

Nikolic!!!

Explain to me how is it possible for a country to "attack"a piece of its own territory?Albanian logic is known worldwide LOL.

Finally you understand why General Gotovina is innocent.

Oh I'm sorry, but when did that ever matter to any of those scenarios? I don't recall any of the local populations in any of those communities outside the extreme nationalist fringes calling for secession or independence. And of those, I don't recall anyone in the international community taking them seriously :)
(Balkan Anthropologist, 20 December 2012 22:43)
Well, well. Kosova was taken very serious and Belgrade was bombed. What more do you want in your own words?

Let's see first how this Catalonian model works for Presevo,Vojvodina and Sandzjak.

Exactly, and the same holds true for the Serbs in North Kosovo. I don't recall any of the local populations in any of those communities in N. Kosovo outside the extreme nationalist fringes calling for secession or independence.

Pristina has already dismissed Serbia's so-called Kosovo platform and said that it should be "filed away... like all the other failed projects".
pre 13 godina
Kosovo is Kosova "that's the compromise" Kosova is neither Albanian. Kosovo is neither Serbian. All people's are equal. No speacial status for anyone.
That's your solution.
Once one starts introducing certain variables especially from outside there will never be a just "compromise"
Nikolic's or Serbia's stupidity is reflected here for all to see.
"The platform also requests that smaller enclaves, such as villages, be given a status of municipalities and a SPECIAL STATUS
Serbians are special LOL
This will never work

Well as I said before, Serbian zones across the province need to remain fully under Serbia
(Ari Gold, 20 December 2012 17:12)
Serbs, Albanians and everybody else in Kosovo are already under Serbia, dear, because Kosovo is Serbia, isnt't it ? So there is nothing to worry about that :)

1st April joke. Fantasyland indeed and not worth commentating at all, except for throwing it into the trash bin.

If this platform is good for the serbs in Kosovo than it should be applied to all other minorities in Serbia as well.
pre 13 godina
its better to lose the North completely than accept such a plan. what this pan would give serbia is a hand in kosova's sovereignty, it will be rejected and so it well should
pre 13 godina

More total recognition of Kosovo independence from Serbia. Customs and ambassadors and this autonomy for Serbs in a supposed Serb province! No one supports Kosovo independence more than Dacic.
