The EU intends to introduce a mechanism that would enable the visa regime to be reintroduced for Serbia on accelerated procedure in emergency situations.

This "failed experiment" has been going since 1965, btw, much longer than any number of failed experiments at any kind of state in the Balkans.

In essence, money is everything in this world and the EU has little left to throw around and show the serbs how well our neighbours live under democracy, freedom and western BS.
The EU is desperate to bring Serbia into its fold and they will announce Serbia’s candidature later this year without fail otherwise popularity to join this failed experiment will sink faster than a rock in a swimming pool (it has already suffered a collapse from 80% down to 55%).
The EU is a failed experiment as it has to deal with economically failed states by the bundle and no matter what happens, the EU will never be the same. Even now there are rumours that it could be a “lose’ confederation of states and nothing more. You see the Germans are getting tired of having to work till 67 just to prop up other EU states that have spent even last Euro. Ask the Croats when they will get into the EU – now its 2013, but even that is no guarantee and in the meantime the money given as aid is drying up faster then anyone can imagine.
If I am wrong tell me so in December 2011, but I have not been wrong so far.

Indeed. In a way, the EU (and it's predecessors EEC) lasted longer than the failed YU. Do Serbs consider it an experiment, too? Well, not worth to mention the great Kosovo experiment which is still in a very early experimental phase ;-)

@sj. You speak as though the EU is applying to join Serbia, not the other way around.

Whan will the people of SERBIA ever learn !!!

There will be NO reintroduction of visas. If the EU pulls that stunt then what little support there is to join this failed experiment will collapse completely.
All you doubters just watch and learn.

I don't see the point of reintroducing visas for Serbs. I think Serbs should be able to freely move across Europe for Tourist and Business purposes, not just because it benefits them but because it benefits Europe too. Yes some may take advantage of it, however there are always going to be people taking advantage of everything. I'd be a shame to let the minority ruin it for the majority.
I'd also like to see the UK and Ireland aka the Common Travel Area lift visa for Serbs for tourist and business purposes too. I know there are Serb communities in parts of Britain and I think it'd nice to make it easier for Serbs in Serbia to visit their relatives in Britain.
