Egyptian state TV described the blast as a “terrorist attack” which was initially reported to have targeted the pipeline taking natural gas to Israel. However some reports now suggest it was the line supplying Jordan that was hit.

It looks more credible to me the operation was carried out by Mubarak's thugs,in order to justify the claim that Mubarak needs to stay to prevent chaos in the country.

It's also worth mentioning that according to reports from Western sources
Mubarak and his family own a huge portfolio of real estate in various world capitals.By some estimates Mubarak is reputed to be worth $70 billion.

Mubarak, his wife & two sons billions must be accounted for (and given back to nation) before being shown the door to jail within egypt. Only leaving power and/or country is not good enough.

But even spending jail for the rest of his natural life it won't do justice to the sufferings of ordinary Egyptians.

It was a terrorist attack alright, but not by Mubarak thugs.

Rather israel´s thugs mind you (no harm to gas flowing to israel) as a pretext to take the opportunity to invade Sinai (again) for "security reasons" and establish a "buffer zone" (with settlemants and squatters soon to follow).

Sorry but you are in the Twilight Zone if you think the West had always embraced “a world of harmony and equality”. If you don’t believe me, ask any of the countries in the world today which were once a colony of Britain, France or Holland. Talk to the elderly citizens in these places on what it was like to be a 2nd class citizen in your own country and have the Brits/French/Dutch lord themselves over you and plunder your resources! Ask the Indians and Indonesians whether their independence was handed to them on a silver platter by the Brits and Dutch. If you ask me, I think Western hypocrisy and double standards sucks!

I have already outlined my reasons above for disagreeing with you. I put it respectfully to you that the only one who is no “objective realist” is yourself – how can you be objective when you clearly chose to see the West through rose-tinted glasses? Don’t just see the roses, see their thorns too!

One would argue that it is Israel that has been in a touchy-feelly relationship with Mubarak in the last thirty years.Therefore,it is in Israel'l national interests to maintain the status quo.

The fundamental reason the Israeli government and world ardent zionists fear democracy in Egypt and the Arab world in general is that a legitimate Egyptian government would not be the pushover which the supine Mubarak and other American dependent Arab regimes have been.

Israel would be forced to make real concessions to reach peace with the Palestinians - rather than continue in their progressive land dispossession of the palestinians that so effectively does at present.
