''I don't remember hearing that, however I have heard of perhaps as much as 40-50% of the population in Albania is of different ethnicities...and thats a fact. Many Greeks, Macedonians, Gypsies, Serbs, Montenegrins and others were forced to change their lastnames into Albanian ones. Further, how many more were forced into changing their religion as well. ''

If 50% of Albanians, are not Albanians then there is a 1/2 probability i m not Albanian...you made my point. Actually my name used to be Ilirov, or Ilirovic, i can't remember...we just removed that ''vic'' which in Albanian literally means baby cow...see why ? Still i wonder, how come in Sandjak, there is a whole village called Berishic ... Berisha being a tyopical Albanian name...

Iliri,

I don't remember hearing that, however I have heard of perhaps as much as 40-50% of the population in Albania is of different ethnicities...and thats a fact. Many Greeks, Macedonians, Gypsies, Serbs, Montenegrins and others were forced to change their lastnames into Albanian ones. Further, how many more were forced into changing their religion as well. Now you do the math on that and see how far your fabled maps stretch across the Balkans in reality. This piece of info, which you probably of course won't believe, was also brought to my attention most recently in Toronto, by no less than two acquaintences from Albania, of Greek heritage, who have Albanian lastnames, that they say was forced unto their grandfathers during the time of Hoxha. Now how many more Serbs around Skodor and other areas have had the same thing befall them, nevermind the Macedonians, who some from Albania, I have met here too in Toronto...and their claims are even more higher.

''Have you ever been to the Raska/Sandzak area? Probably not, but here's a few items for you to think about ie) Serbs and Bosniaks live there primarily, with Serbs being a majority in most areas. ''

Until ten years ago Belgrade claimed Serbs were a majority in Albania as well...in most areas.

Mind my ignorance, but who is it that votes for the national council? Is it the citizens of Sandzak themselves (which is hard to define, since there's no definite boundary, as far as I know), or is it a group of Bosniak politicians with power in the region?

funny how in every other part of the former yugoslavia... serb minorities are given constitutional rights, powers, and representation above and beyond what they would otherwise get in any democracy..that in no small part was demanded by serbia, usually as the price for peace.

Yet serbia still refuses to do anything remotely similar with its minorities that they demand from others.

"I saw this puppet-instigator Zukorlic on al Jazeera speaking better Arabic than his native Serbian"

In the first sentence alone you have charged insults, first with "puppet" than the Arabic speaking you are implying that he is not a Serb.

Like always you're wrong.

Just because a person is multilingual they are not traitors, study's show that multilinguals' tend to be more intelligent.

Thanks,

Like any country and any government in the world, Belgrade is not paying enough attention to its far away provinces.
Nevertheless, it would be wrong from Bosniak side to let the area come to a boilingpoint. This is not 1991. Public opinion in the West is not favorable to Muslems anymore.

Demi,

Have you ever been to the Raska/Sandzak area? Probably not, but here's a few items for you to think about ie) Serbs and Bosniaks live there primarily, with Serbs being a majority in most areas. There are a few people stiring the pot, but not enough to engulf the area into a cauldron. Sorry to burst your anti-Serb feeling you may be feeling today.

I saw this puppet-instigator Zukorlic on al Jazeera speaking better Arabic than his native Serbian and lying about alleged mistreatment of Serbian Muslims by Belgrade. If our Muslims do re-elect this guy then it shows their dishonesty as well. If they don't then it's a humiliation for the disloyal Zukorlic and a vindication for the Muslim public & Belgrade. Mind in head, as the Serb expression says.

Why dosen't Serbia offer Sandzak ''more then autonomy, less than independence'' ??

Priority for Serbia should be Sandzak and Vojvodina since Kosovo is long gone of serbian reach. It will not take long time until things will blow up in Sandzak and Serbia will be pressured from outside to respect the voice of the resident of Sandzak and their aspirations.

Keep up the good wok Serbia in setting wrong prioritys. You will loose what you got when you are trying to catch somthing that you have already lost forever.
