I Don't thing you understand when albania joins EU it is a don deal. kosovo albanians can get albanian passports the border will be open and thats that don deal.So give peace a chance stop with Slobodan milosevic ideology Pleas. People of Yougsllavia have sufferd enough.today we all could have been in EU.
(ilyr, 21 November 2009 12:37)

It’s not a done deal because the EU will not allow the Albanians from Kosovo to travel. Do you think that they want nearly two million moving about in Europe looking for jobs. Kosovo will be dealt with separately from Albania and even Albanian citizens will not be allowed to move that freely, but that is a separate issue.
Nothing will change for Kosovo until Serbia agrees.

You intentionally ignore that in ALL meeting that Tadic has with EU representatives and of different govt’s it has been asked form Serbia to be CONSTRUCTIVE regarding Kosova. Asking to be constructive implies that Serbia is DESTRUCTIVE towards Kosova.
(ben, 18 November 2009 19:03)

Not necessary but after seeing the 1:1 between Dacic and Xharra I see your point. Same applies to the lack of condolences in the case of illegal border-crossing incident when many Albanians drown in Tisza river.

Let's be optimistic - I would rather blame clumsiness and lack of sensibility than DELIBERATE malicious intents or hatred or somewhat else.

This is a lame excuse, but still an excuse.

If I would be in charge - for sure I would proclaim essentially the same ("Kosova eshtë Serbi") what the current Serbian government does. But it wouldn't be much more than rather a formal thing. One the practice:

- produce of Kosovo would be sold all over Serbia Proper. And of course with zero customs tariff. The "Kosovo Republic" sign would be crossed. Like in the past: Exakta cameras made in (East) Germany were sold in the States with the same tariff as any camera from (West) Germany. But the "Made in Germany" sign on East German produce was crossed out. (Now on eBay such items have good prices)

- Kosovo Passports would be accepted only to issue a temporary "licna karta". That "licna karta" would be PRECISELY the same as regular Serbian, just with limited validity time (say, three month maximum).

- Kosovo licence plates and insurance would be accepted on the admin. line crossings only. There, all Kosovars would be obligated to purchase a temporary Serbian plate and temporary Serbian insurance. The price for both would be accordingly less than the permanent one "regular" Serbs get

- I would make it damn sure, that like every official (and semi-official) place in the States has Spanish and often Chinese or Viet signs, so any official and semi-official place in Serbia Proper would have signs in both Serbian and Albanian.

- The number of Albanians in Serbia (Kosovo included) is MUCH higher than the number of people having "alternative lifestyle" and/or "alternative sexual preference". If their demonstrations are a headline-issue... fine, indeed, we are not obligated to follow their preferences, but absolutely no discrimination either, let them demonstrate for their rights (as long as such demo is not offending public taste).

Why don't you guys organize a demo in Belgrade? I mean, a peaceful, informative demo - pointing out precisely above things. I firmly believe, a lot of things are wrong on both sides just merely out of ignorance. That can be changed.

------

If you thinking by heart then everything is possible (in Alice’s world).
(ben, 18 November 2009 19:03)

Indeed, probably a constructive things, too. In some cases nothing else is needed just some good ideas. For instance, ask Serbs following question:

"Do you support the idea, that Kosovo Albanians can visit their relatives in Belgrade or Novi Sad and they could buy temporary Serbian 'licna karta', Serbian temporary license plates and insurance at the crossing?"

I am 100% sure, the overwhelming majority will say "Good idea, really, why not?". Now, you know how slow the government bureaucrats are. Even the famous Serbian-Russian visa deal took like two years to implement (for no reason!). Serbian government is not evil, "just" slow and still with a lot of bureaucracy and corruption. A lot of things could speed their thinking up. But showing the middle finger to them will just trigger the Serbian "inat".

In discussing the implementation of the rule of law in Kosovo what the EU is referring to is the rule of law extending to the full extent of the territory of The Republic of Kosovo. So far the rule of law has only been established in Albanian Majority areas however north of the Ibar River this has been hampered by Serbian obstructionism which is aided by the Government of Serbia. So those of you suggesting that we shouldn’t blame these problems on Serbia should really stop your ignorant rants and raves and see the situation as it is. This can’t and won’t continue forever. Serbs south of the river have already realized that Serbia is using them as pawns in a cynical political mind game to prolong Kosovo’s progress. What I don’t understand is how Serbs and Serbia aren’t realizing they are being used by Russia to impede European Unity. All of our futures are in the EU and if Serbia truly believes that EU membership is not directly tied to normalization of ties with an Independent Kosovo then they are nothing short of delirious.

Serbia is not going to hand over its territory willingly. If it did not buckle under EU/US pressure in the early days, it certainly will not now.

What’s more interesting is yet to come. The Russians have completed their control of Europe with their gas by signing agreements with Austria and Slovenia, so they are the new masters and I can tell you that there will be some old scores to settle. The Russians were humiliated in the early 1990s by the US and EU and there are a large number of ultra-nationalist within Vlad Putin’s circle that are also seething about Serbia’s treatment at the hands of ‘freedom loving democracies’.

This visa liberalisation business is nonsense. How many in Serbia will it affect? Not too many! It the EU’s quickest positive response to the changing geopolitical situation. Next will be this ridiculous SAA will be given the go ahead, as if Serbia needs the EU to trade – Serbia is not that big to worry about the EU. It just psychological mumbo jumbo! This trade agreement is more about EU corporations selling their goods in Serbia not the other way around.

Serbia will not allow Kosovo to thrive and it’s going to get worse in the future for that province. See, they have learnt to play the western games extremely well – sign agreements and stick to the letter of the law then wave them in front of the EU/US and they are helpless. The west thought that these agreements were going to be only temporary, but the Serbs were more cunning and have bogged them down to an absolute standstill. Sit and wait and until your adversary goes broke.

My sources tell me in about May/June next year we will see some major changes occurring in the EU and the beginning of separation from the US, and then the new masters will make themselves know to the world. -- I, and apparently a number of EU ministers, have picked up many-a-book and article, and most objective sources agree that the rule of law in Kosovo is still a major work in progress. I fail to see what you’re upset at, and Belgrade, a government that has been theoretically irrelevant for K Albanians since 1999, is the least of your concerns. I've been to Kosovo and I've seen the limits of Belgrade’s reach in Albanian sectors. It's minimal at best. So I have to say that the responsibility for problems in the rule of law and justice lies with your own elected officials and the passes they are getting from international supporters. Perhaps you should think of alternatives in leadership other than people like Thaci and Haradinaj? They frequently love to play the Blame-Belgrade card when things aren’t going their way. When the news is good, you'll say nothing can stop you. When news is bad, you blame everything on someone else. Following this logic, it's truly amazing how the power of Serbia conveniently waxes and wanes over your lives.

If you still think a lack of sources is a “major concern”, perhaps you should send a recommended reading list to those EU officials who issued the statements?

You intentionally ignore that in ALL meeting that Tadic has with EU representatives and of different govt’s it has been asked form Serbia to be CONSTRUCTIVE regarding Kosova. Asking to be constructive implies that Serbia is DESTRUCTIVE towards Kosova.

Consequently, you choose to ignore my points of the deliberately DESTRUCTIVE strategy of Serbia towards Kosova. You just fly over them and don’t say even a word, perhaps since you don’t have?

So, all your comments of ‘blame another state’ hold no water - provided that you reckon out-of-box. If you thinking by heart then everything is possible (in Alice’s world).

Say it clearly: Serbia is posing THE challenge and is obstructing the democracy and the rule of law in Kosova. And not only that Serbia is doing ALL she can in destabilising Kosova make the life of the people in Kosova as miserable as it can by
banning Kosovar goods eve to transit Serbia,
isolate Kosova from any regional initiative and possible international initiatives/organisations,
organizing and financing Serbian war lords north,
banning even her airspace for airplanes directed in Kosova, etc.

And what does Serbia get for this and for PROTECTING war criminals Mladic & Co??? Visa liberalisation so the criminals can also travel free.... hurray...

What do you want more than this??? Only the invasion is missing- or it is being prepared (and I am sure successful - having 2,500 lightly armed men to defend the young democracy what else can you expect??).

It's time for EU to speak with names who is who. People in Kosova were for too long hostage of Serbia enough is enough. Say is clearly in whose interest is that Kosova fails and who is working on her failure.

How is Serbia obstructing the law in Kosovo? Isn't Kosovo obstructin international law by declaring independence? When are you going to stop blaming your problems on the Serbs? "your lack of sources and information is a major concern. Please visit Kosova as soon as possible, or pick up a book pronto."

Since the begining I have been saying loud that am agains this illegal UDI, simply because it has been done in a complete violation of the UN charter and I'll certainly stick to it until proven that there really are legal grounds to sustain this UDI.

As much as I praise all the fully integrated k-a living in Switzerland for decades (and i have some wounderfull neighbourghs) as much as I dislike too many of them that came during the balkan war and completely abused and are still abusing our system and hospitality, worst, managed to install and complete controll the drug trafficking and prostitution.

You call it stereotype, I call it facts or better say statistics. Am sure the same applies in too many EU countries!!

Interesting enough NONE of them have any wish to return... Any answer to this??

As I said in my below comment, nobody needs to push you down, you do it yourselves and, again, comments like yours and your nationalistic friends will certainly not help us to have more respect, to the contrary... moreover it will only reinforce day after day the terrible image that you are having abroad.

If you are not convinced, look at what Obama is doing in China! That crap about human rights blah, blah! It’s only for domestic consumption not for China’s benefit. The US cannot afford to p******f China because it owns 1/3 of the US.

The US is declining by the month, not by the year.
