Whoever wants to travel to Albania for fun, or curiosity, let's just give a check at photos in google, and it is done - he/she can decide wether he/she likes it or not. Up to now, the impression of most of the people from Serbia that have visited Albania (I'm talking about those who I know), has been positiv. Who is affraid, or who doesnt trust, than it is simple, nobody is forcing them - but at least let not blame something they have never seen or experienced. Same thing for Albanians, I would recommend them to visit Serbia, it is beautiful, at least I found it great.
The level of cooperation between our countries is low indeed, but those few cooperations that exist, are working great. To all the people who are against hate, hatred and violence, I urge to not pay attention to propaganda and I invite them to try the ways to go beyond the stereotypes.

Seems to me that 90% of the posters here are underage diaspora kids mainly living in WESTERN (which you condemn a lot)countries with no connection to the far-away motherlands. Only uneducated (on the ground matters) kids talk and demean the other nationalities. Grow up and leave people that actually live there take care of their own business.

To all the serb commenters trying to bash Albania and our tourism, it's very simple - DON'T COME HERE!

We certainly don't need some broke-ass serb tourists who can't pay 50 euros for a room.

Go whereverelse you wanna go or enjoy Serbia or whatever it's left of it anyway.

PS: You wish you had an Adriatic coast.

I just watched a travel show on Albania and uhh, wow, where to start... For 5 days this poor woman who was hosting was dragged from village to village (either by walking or a donkey), had to fight off advances from the 5-10 men that were constantly less than a metere away, she was also forced to traverse the accursed mountains with no equipment and on several occasions admitted that she has never been more scared in her life... but hey! at least she got to see lots of pill-boxes!
(stariVujadin, 8 October 2009 02:07)

To traverse the Prokletje you need some GPS ($200 buys Garmin Nüvi 255 wide-screen), than look at Pir***Bay (won't go in the detail because it's illegal and immoral) Albania and ex-YU "torrents". Having (any kind of) four wheels, not to expensive is a good idea. German is OK for Albanians and many Serbs, Russian is very good for Serbs. Case closed.

She is lucky because she had time to be "scared" (of what????). Normally - as I wrote many times - in Tijuana or East Palo Alto you have no time to be scared. 1-2-3 and you are dead like a piece of old wood. And your Albanian (or Serbian) or American passport will be put to "good use", they alway appreciate one of these booklets and are not very picky.

Anyway, good topic to make a travel show. I know these Anglo-Saxon travelers... they are afraid of everything and ask some really dumb question like "how can I book the room over the Internet"

(correct answer: passing the village you see a bi-lingual sign: "Zimmer" and "Собе". That's the room. And there is no Internet there. Hence the correct behavior: ask any K-Albanian who knows Serbian, how they say "Собе" because "Zimmer" is the same across the border. And there, too, there is probably no Internet. And no, it's not custom to run out every hour to check, is your car still there. It will be there, just people will laugh at you)

This comment is directed mostly to B92 as well as its readers who comment in the forum.
It is nice to have a media outlet such as B92 where people can read news about the Balkans and specifically Serbia and Kosova. I understand we have different views of the situation, but debates can happen while respecting each other. It seems to me that some of the posters only purpose here is to insult and denigrate the other person, and his/her nationality. I have had the pleasure of traveling to both Albania and Serbia recently, and neither is very different from the other. When it comes to economy and the mentality of the people, both are on the same boat, this goes for most of the Balkans as well. So have some respect for the other person's views regardless if you agree or disagree with them. I am really not trying to lecture anyone here, but it gets old when every other comment I read is an insult directed to someone.
To a better future!

Albania can do nothing. Only giving "meat" for NATO intervention in Afghanistan. So - government of Serbia don't must be nice to poor country which need to steal part of territory of Republic of Serbia.

Ian you are half correct, you should google the definition of 3rd world country! Let me do that for you, pay close attention to what this term means today:
"The term Third World was originally coined in times of the Cold War to distinguish those nations that are neither aligned with the West (NATO) nor with the East, the Communist bloc. Today the term is often used to describe the developing countries of Africa, Asia, Latin America and Oceania.
Many poorer nations adopted the term to describe themselves."

And i apologise Albania isn't a 3rd world country, more like a 4th world country, yes that is a specal term we need to apply here.

serbia / albania relations can be very productive for both countries since they both have large influence in several countries in the balkans other then their own ..having said that my opinion is that EU would not let that happen its helpful to the EU that serbia and albania remain cool towards each other ..

I for one welcome the FM of Albania to Serbia. This is not just a very important development but a signal that Belgrade is bypassing the Snake and Sejdiu and negotiating with Tirana and laying the foundations for a final settlement to the Kosovo issue.

As Mike said, negotiate with the relevant actors in this issue. Thaci and his gang are to be ignored. If Belgrade wants a deal on Kosovo, talk to Tirana not Pristina. Jeremic is paying his cards right.

WEll the Serbian FM. is doing his homework dictated by Moscow in his recent visit there. US-Russia relations change, by conseguence the Serbian stance on Kosovo and region will change. Serbia without Russia is 'nothing'. Everything in serbia is dictated by Moscow, Nothing new here, i guess? And the same happen with my Albania and the USA. I think that's nothing to be ashamed of, because this is the TRUTH. We don't have to be hypocrtics on this. Bigger countries than ours depends on these two important countries and bow to them just as we do. I will always remember a meeting with Massimo D'Alema at my university. He said to us: Do you know guys what would be the influence of the EU on the global arena without the USA? Well, guess what was his response; He said "ZERO", the EU without the USA is nothing. These were his words. Well sincerly i was shocked. I'm less nationalistic since that day, the reality is much cruel that the one i had in my previous nationalistic version of mine.

To the person that said, "why not talk with the (Kosovars) most competent", I hope you aren't thinking of that band of criminals in Pristina, wanted by Serbia for war crimes. Serbia does not recognize this terrorist group, illegaly set up by Western military bullies. Can you comprehend this? Why do you keep referring to the KLA terrorists as competent leaders?

"This surely must be a joke, why would Serbia need to cooperate with a 3rd world country?"

Albania is a 1st world country because it is in NATO. 1st, 2nd and 3rd world countries refers to military allegiance. 1st world is US-NATO allies, 2nd world is China-Russia allies, 3rd world is no military allegiance which Serbia is and Serbia is going to host the next NAM meeting. This has nothing to do with economics.

"I wonder why Mr. Jeremic goes all around discussing Kosovo issue with everyone, without making any single attempt to discuss Kosovo with those (Kosovars) most competent?"

-- I am quite sure Jeremic is in good contact with Oliver Ivanovic, Feith, Zannier and the rest of the K-Serb community, so no worries about keeping relevant "Kosovars" out of the loop. Remember, the operative word is "relevant".

But yes, cooperation between Belgrade and Tirana can only be a good thing. Both are going to be the major influencers in respective parts of Kosovo for the forseeable future, so there might as well be a meeting of the mind to respect each other's political and economic sphere of influence.

LoL! That made me laugh, your description of Albania is accurate. Imagine, if a propaganda show cannot make the country look good than you can imagine how it is in real life! I had the displeasure of travelling to Albania as a 5yr old about 20 yrs ago and let me tell you i still have nightmares....
I don't remember seeing cement anywhere and i'm talking about their city Tirana...Don't think it has improved much..
Ian you should go there for a holiday and take your wife and daughters with you, let us know how it goes!

I think we'll keep the one we just bought in Montenegro.
(MikeC

What did you just buy?
The price is higher than the Russian and IMF loans combined.
According to you Serbia is not landlocked and other things.

I am glad to see the FM's meet, it is a road to a new chapter hopefully.
Yet again another VUK victory. hehe

Regards..

Albania can do nothing. Only giving "meat" for NATO intervention in Afghanistan. So - government of Serbia don't must be nice to poor country which need to steal part of territory of Republic of Serbia.

IT is sad to have people that think by insulting their neighboors will get more credibility. Wrong and not neccesary true.Belgrade is a beautiful city but we have our pride on Tirana and rest of Albania so please stop insulting us.

Nersada...

I agree that this is a positive development. Kosovo disagreements aside, there's no need to damage relations in other areas.

FM of Albania should give the Port of Tivari to Serbia since Berisha give the Port of Shengjin to Kosova if they really want better relations.

Seems to me that 90% of the posters here are underage diaspora kids mainly living in WESTERN (which you condemn a lot)countries with no connection to the far-away motherlands. Only uneducated (on the ground matters) kids talk and demean the other nationalities. Grow up and leave people that actually live there take care of their own business.

serbia / albania relations can be very productive for both countries since they both have large influence in several countries in the balkans other then their own ..having said that my opinion is that EU would not let that happen its helpful to the EU that serbia and albania remain cool towards each other ..
