A lot of Serbs do support Jeremic and the current government policy. It is a much better policy than the nationalist rubbish that would just drag Serbia back into the mire.
Don't be lead by the noise of the extremists - young people want a future, and that is what is on offer when the borders open and when progress is made towards the EU.
The nationalists had their day - and failed both Serbs and Serbia by antagonising the international community by supporting killing and murder.
Fortunately Jeremic and Tadic represent a move away from the pariah status that it seems nationalism would willingly reawaken.
As for Croatia - it is founded in fascism and has not got over that yet. Serbia has come much further much quicker in dealing with its past.

Darko,
I take it from your comments that you are probably a Serbian Croat. I'm a frequent visitor to Serbia and I have a number of Croat friends in Serbia so nothing against you lot at all :)
However I do take offense when people like yourself downplay the tragedy of the ethnic cleansing of the Kraijina Serbs, a community that had existed for hundreds of years.
The fact that you typed that comment sitting in an internet cafe in Novi Sad, sipping on your coffee latté and smoking a cigarette in blissfull ignorance is a testament to Serbian civil society.

When will these fantasy living leaders of Serbia understand Croatia wont bow down for any of them. Unlike FYROM, Croatia is a respected country and member of NATO while Serbia lacks both.
(Pejoni, 9 July 2009 17:01)
Dear all,
What Pejoni means here by 'respected country' is a country that accepts and submits to the whims of its imeperial and colonial master, in this case the US/NATO. In otherwards a colony. You see the coolies in Tirana, Zagreb and Skopje have been falling over themselves, each outdoing the other in rolling over for their master, waiting for him to stroke them on the bellies. Thats a good lapdog, now down boy.
Problem is for the Master, the bulldog in the other kennel, (call him Serbia) simply refuses to roll over and accept the Master's whims. Every morning when the master and his little lapdogs descend outside the kennel, Serbia the bulldog strolls out, assumes the agressive posture, growls, shows the teeth and the others back off.
You see Pejoni, as much as you want to see Serbia broken up, destroyed/ dissloved with the lapdogs hoping for a slice of the pie, well it isnt goiong to happen. Serbia will still be there despite your best attempts at dismembering it. It is the only country in the Balkans in a sea of lapdogs that refuse to go with the flow. They are only ones left with a fighting spirit and in mine and many people accross the world, Serbia is a respectful nation with a great people and great culture.
If you want to understand about the mentality of the Serbian nation, well did you ever hear of this old saying, "House in the middle of the road"?
That sums it all up.

This is exactly what I call hardheaded diplomacy.
The world knows Balkan people best for being exactly what Jeremic is doing. Unwilling to cooperate, patriotic, irritant, hot-blooded and hardheaded.
There is no winner from such a decision. It simply is not favoring anyone, but costing everyone, especially Serbia.
I don't see how can you maintain regional leadership when you don't have good relations with any country in the region. Or how you can integrate your country when you actually isolate it, cutting diplomatic ties with other countries or sending their ambassadors home.
We will see what happens, but Croatia is certainly turning the favor to both Montenegro and Serbia for their last summits that were held in their countries and where Kosovo wasn't invited, Albania boycotted the last one.
Its interesting to see the Croatian appreciation for their Illyrian roots. Also their development and engagement with the west. I believe that all western Balkans can learn something from them.

I see comments of 300,000 Serbs from "Krajina". The number keeps going up everyday. What a joke!
Then I see comments saying that Croats support Nazis and are pretty much saying they are fascist government. Another joke!!
If any of you people actually live in Serbia then you would know that nobody here like Vuk... he does not represent what the majority think!! But some people from outside Serbia keep on pushing his propaganda.. don't fall into his trap.

Darko,
I take it from your comments that you are probably a Serbian Croat.
Novi Sad is nice this time of year. Enjoy the weekend.

Maybe he left because he was reminded of the damage to Dubrovnik in 90's. Or maybe he thought it was in Krajina and then realised it wasnt.

Mr. Jeremic SHOULD have gone to Croatia! It would truly prove that Serbia can care less what Croatia says. This way Croatia wins!
Mr. Jeremic needs out! He is an American puppet that is Serbianized!

Darko

That banana republic brought Serbia to its knees, with the help of Rahim Ademi, Agim Ceku, and Ante Gotovina. God Bless Croatia.
(Rebel, 10 July 2009 02:44)
Thath banana republic havent brought anyone to its knees. Its just something that you like to believe in. Ceku (arrested by Bulgarians, Columbians),Ademi (will be convicted and will spend some time in jail), Gotovina (already in jail) are war criminals! Those who support them are support their policy of ethnic-cleansing
