I do need some clarification about the numbers you are using. Some say that there are at this moment around 110.000 serbs in Kosovo. If you are right with your 250.000 expelled serbs, than the total of serbs in Kosovo before the war should of been 360.000.??? Strange, I can't find any papers or facts about these numbers, nowhere. Until couple of month ago even on this site there was a number of 200.000 serbs in Kosovo before war circulating.

'Kosovo police spokesman Ismet Hashani said that an investigation was ongoing, but that the injury had been caused by a stray bullet by the looks of things.'

Vasko Arsić, the young man who was injured in this incident, was quoted as saying he was hit in the foot by a stray bullet. The fact that neither the victim nor the friend who was with him at the time heard a shot or knew where the bullet had come from, and the fact that the bullet hit him in his foot, all point to the conclusion that it was a stray bullet, rather than one aimed directly at him.

It's an unfortunate custom in this part of the world to fire guns into the air as a sign of celebration. As anyone with an knowledge of physics - or just basic common sense - already knows: what goes up must come down. A bullet that's shot into the air will eventually come down somewhere, often at a considerable distance from where the gun was fired, out of sight of the shooter and without any sound or warning. Anyone unlucky enough to be standing where such a stray bullet lands can be hit.

Every New Year's eve we see reports of dozens of people being injured or killed by stray bullets. But Serbs and Albanians alike still go on shooting into the air to celebrate weddings, holidays, football triumphs, or other 'special occasions'. And their neighbors and the authorities usually let them get away with it. It's a custom, but it's a stupid one.

Mr. Arsić certainly deserves sympathy for the injury he suffered. But it's unlikely that he was a victim of ethnic persecution. More likely his injury was the random consquence of some idiot's careless 'celebratory' shot fired into the sky, that came back to earth... as all such shots do.

Tell me Vuk, what is the difference (beside this ethnical thing) between shooting and shooting. Humans against humans, have you ever thought about that? In my opinion there is no difference between this two criminal acts, I just wonder when you will once try to see that it does not allways have to matter what nationality someone is. Hating someone is not allways bad, hating an ethnic group says more about you than about the group.
(Freek, 18 February 2009 21:03)

Freek I am again somewhat perplexed by your response.

I will explain; there may have been very little difference in the bullets or the gun or lets even rule out the location to make things even easier. The Albanians which shot/beat the Serbs have a different motivation, the Serb boy killed in Belgrade is clearly not being victimized due to his nationality, unlike the ones in Kosovo and Metohija. It is a hate crime yes, but the parrellel you are attempting to draw is inconclusive since it is extermely unlikely that the Serbs were shot at because they personally were involved in an arguement with the Albanians. How do I know this? Unless you have forgotten Albanians in Kosovo have long since severed all links with Serbs and hold pure contempt for them as demostrated by the forcefull removal of 250,000 since NATO bombing. I really doubt this is a spat between a few friends.
Do you need further clarification?

This was a daily thing back in 97-99 in Kosmet. It should not surprise anyone, if it does then you just weren't hearing about these cowardly acts back in those days. The crimes albans have committed are atrocious. They were kidnapping Serbs and killing inncocent civillians + policemen. They were planitng bombs at public places. SHAME!
(Ratko, 18 February 2009 16:34)

Ratko,

The Serbs in Kosovo have been beaten, blackmailed, churches and gravestones desecrated ever since Tito took power in 1946. The incidences increased after Kosovo was made an autonomous province in 1974 and even a Yugoslav Federal Government official had a bottle stuck up his arse in the 1980's. The plight of Kosovo Serbs was ignored by the Yugoslav Federal Government as it is being ignored by UNMIK, EULEX and other international organizations who govern it notwithstanding Slobodan Milosevic who used Kosovo to maintain power within Serbia.

Why are you all not reacting to the news that a serb young man was shot in the centre of Belgrade? [link]
Do you maybe hate albanians just a little bit? What if it was not an albanian bullet? Will you write a comment and appologize?
(Freek, 18 February 2009 15:51)

It does appear our Albanians friend is confused; allow me to explain:

There is a fairly profound difference between these took cases; notice how the Serb boy in Kosovo was shot in a town where he is in a minority and his people have been actively persecuted for the last decade at least, then compare that to Belgrade a place which is mostly Serb and is a large city like any other in Europe with crime problems.

Big difference there, to think that in such a small village people can get away with things such as this I.e everyone will know the people involved etc etc shows that Albanians are united in these crimes and have absolutely no problem in accepting them and allowing them to occur.

Apart from that, nothing new here it just reminds us yet again exactly who we have buisness with.

International community must be dying of shame to see what their plan is doing to Serbian young people, who thanks to them are subject to the worst possible prosecution.

What matters about terrorists is that in the end they are exposed for the monsters they are. No matter how much some want to keep it quite. This is why Kosovo will always remain Serbian province.

Foot shooting, flag hoisting and baseball bat bashing.

I had no idea that Albanians were this good at sports.

Such great athleticism and endurance. Pretty soon they will be ready for the Olympics.

'Kosovo police spokesman Ismet Hashani said that an investigation was ongoing, but that the injury had been caused by a stray bullet by the looks of things.'

Which roughly translate to - It's a common occurrence to have stray bullets flying about all over the place so we'll not waste too much effort looking into this as it's time to meet the drug lords to get instructions as to when we turn a blind eye.
