it is never mentioned in media reports, that A. Vucic - who is likely to become next mayor of Belgrad - was a former information minister of Slobodan Milosevic. at the moment he is not mayor of Belgrade in charge - and this on a legal basis. for Vucic it is illegal like free media was illegal for him when he was in charge under Milosevic.

peter, yes fairness, there isn't a lot of that about.

I don't know anything about organised protests in case Seselj / Kostunica win, thats something I saw mentioned by posters here. We in Serbia don't know much about this, in case it is planned / does apply.

On the other hand we have a confirmed protest that will apparently be 'huge', ostensibly for the delay in convening a session of the Belgrade assembly. The more aware see this as a gesture to stir up supporters of the patriotic block in case of new elections and in the current context perhaps an attempt to protest a DS led government.

Arguments aside, lets see how many supporters the patriotic block can bring out onto the streets. I think a poor showing will have an even more negative impact on potential new elections, just as a good showing would keep the numbers up.

BTW in case of repeat elections I think that Kostunica / Ilic will struggle to make the census.

Let's be fair about this.

From my admittedly limited understanding of the convoluted nature of serb politics, Tadic's mob were planning a protest in case Kostunica's mob came out on top in the federal elections - ie: a protest against the particular democratic process in Serbia.

Wheras Kostunica's mob seem to be planning a protest now over Tadic's mob delaying the hand-over of power as a result of the local elections in Belgrade for as long as possible - principles of democracy are actually for a handover as soon as is feasible - due to loss of mandate.

Feel free to correct me on this, but that is the way I see it.

Oh yes I remember patriotic supporters were complaining that democratic block would stage a protest if their side didn't form a government....

Hang on, I got my parties mixed up. Looks like patriotic parties will be taking to the streets in protest!

Lets see how many people will attend.
