I don't quite understand when he talks about the 'final status' being determined by the UN - surely Kosovo is Serbia even if the UN were to say otherwise. The final status is about the autonomous government and not about removing Kosovo from Serbia.

The point is at the moment the UN has not made a statement on this, so Serbia still owns Kosovo. I do not think that the UN has the right to take land away from nations - is that in the charter?

He says "Serbia has the right and obligation to defend its own integrity and identity in a peaceful way...". Surely it also has the right to defend its territory by any necessary means - this could include any use of force or subterfuge (not that I would advocate these under the circumstances).

".....through continued negotiations..." under UN (Russia's) auspicies.

What was UN doing with Serbia regarding Kosova since 1999 ?

"Tadić insist: Both eating the cake, and keep it"

What Tadić insist is that most Serbians are idiots to belive this but not even an idiot would smile togheter with a man that just recently murdered his relatives and tried tried to bomb him back to the stone age.
