Burim,

Thanks for your attitude - wish every K-Albanian would have it.
I am not a Serb, just a crazy half-Hungarian/half-Russian who is about to return to Europe after 5 years in Germany and 15 years in USA. My house is near Budapest, my job is in Belgrade (earlier I spoke about it). I am NOT unbiased but as long as K-Albanians don't try to poke us in the nose unnecessarily I can even try to be friendly ;-)

Where Belgrade probably hopes is to win the case in the international court first, than sue the weakest members of the "recognition wave" for the damages while promising to drop the case if they reverse. I expect it to be in Winter, just around the time the new U.S. administration will begin to function (and naturally their focus will be other problems, not Kosovo). In my opinion, Jeremic is one of the most talented people in the entire area (NOT just Serbia!). I won't mind if Hungary would borrow him as a P.M. We need urgently some grey matter in that famous neo-gothic building on the Danube, just across the Buda castle.

I can imagine, the ultimate goal is to get behind the negotiating table again. I do not see, the CURRENT leadership in Kosovo feels, they need under CURRENT circumstances to negotiate anything with Belgradians. Without negotiation there won't be any peace. Even if Cyprus and Russia would recognize Kosovo, one - the most important - country for them to recognize is Serbia. This is impossible without negotiations. I have no idea how Kosovo-Albanians imagine their future with hostile Serbia around. Of course, Kosovo as it is cannot be RULED from Belgrade as it used to be under Milosevic, but there could be some interesting solutions. Of note is the current PRACTICE of American government: they are RENTING the territory of Camp Bondsteel from Serbia - even if they recognize Kosovo government. So there is some room.

Expect some good brainstorming and perhaps finally an acceptable solution with Jeremic being involved. As for radicals... I am somewhat unsure, what they plan. Maybe Kosovo for them is just a way to get the power. My opinion may change for SRS, but I am afraid of any kind of radicals. Radicals tend to represent things not too healthy for everyday life. I am very cautious to say anything more in public because I am not Serbian citizen and I feel, I am not allowed to influence anyone.

Can I just ask... What are people's thoughts about what the Serbian government's long-term strategy is for Kosovo?

Jeremic has been very successful in his round-the-world trip of convincing countries not to recognise Kosovo's independence, but it still cannot conceal the fact that most of the countries that matter (the US and most EU countries, including the most powerful) have all shown strong support for an independent Kosovo. Surely the Pristina government will never give in to Serbia with that kind of support, and surely the West is unlikely to renege on their backing. Isn't it far more likely that the trend will be for ever more countries to recognise Kosovo, even if this only happens over time? Isn't Kosovo's independence an accomplished fact that Serbia (even with her ally Russia) is far too weak to do revoke?

What are Jeremic, Kostunica, Tadic and the rest playing at? What fruits are they hoping to reap from their policies? Isn't Kosovo irrevocably lost? Isn't theirs just a hopeless cause?

I don't mean my questions to sound wry and provocative in any way. I'm genuinely interested in what Serbia is trying to get out of their strategy. Is it partition? A special relationship with Kosovo that establishes Serbia as the main influential? Or are the parties in Belgrade doing so much simply because they don't want to lose face in the eyes of the Serbian public?

Please it would be interesting to hear some speculations.

Mr. Jeremic, keep this way. I still didn't hear that you go to Poland. I thing you should go there, requesting possibility to address the Polish Parliament (Sejm).

Most of Polish citizens support Serbia and you have to help them to exert a pressure on Polish government.

this is a complete joke again...

Serbia will drift towards Russia if they don't agree in accepting Kosova. As most EU countries have recognised Kosova, there will be no NATO or EU SAA signing until the government of Serbia realises the fact of Kosova. So tell me with this fact where is the government of Serbia going to head towards...

The fact is that Solana, Kushner, Rice & Miliband knew that this was the only way for Serbia to sign the agreement with to 'give up' Kosova was to put pressure on the government to choose the EU rather then Kosova.

the government of Serbia know this and they should tell their people straight which would save them some embarrassment

Dear Mr Jeremic,

I think you should maintain the status quo...at least for few more months, until we reach Kosovo symbolic recognition number of 100...

Breaking News: Republic of Nauru recognised the Republic of Kosovo...(nr.38)..

Cheers

Mr. Vuk Jeremić is trying very hard to prove what can not be proved: That Serbia will return Kosovo under her juridicstion. He reminds me on Don Kichot and his fight with windmills. Maybe I got this impresion because of his visite to Spain?
