I know what you mean, and no one is saying that the two sides should start to kiss each other's backsides, but the least they should do is coexist peacefully. If you think that I have no clue what I am talking about, then you are also wrong, because as a Pole, we have had a very dark and morbid history with our Western neighbors, the Germans, years of war, murder, destruction and conquering, but today, we live in peace with each other. I am not saying that we are friends, but we are big trade partners and military allies, many Poles live and work normally in Germany, many Germans invest massive sums of capital into Poland, one very rarely hears of any major cases of hatred between the two anymore (except for hooligans and skinheads, but that's a tiny fraction of the population).

I hope one day that the Serbs and Albanians will just give it a break and live their own lives without taking to much notice of one another.

Ironic. The Kosovar-S SHPK (KPS) arresting local Kosovar boys for stoning cars on the highway (not road). This is a good step forward, detain all those that commit crimes, whether Albanian, Serb, American, or KFOR.

Ahmet, these "kids" are just following the example set by K_Albanians, when they stone buses carrying senior Serbs to market. These Kosovar youth live in a society where this is common place.

Papajohn,
Based on what the newspaper reported this is a case of minors (read kids) who have some "fun" by scaring motorists.
This kind of stoning is common place in almost every balkan contry (Serbia, Kosovo, Albania, Montenegro).
The problem is the situation is Kosovo is so tense, that stupid childish adventures like this are taken out of context and input into the political situation. That's what I want to beleive. It's hard for me to beleive that K-Serbs would fall so low on using kids to advance their political agenda.
P.S. I remember myself when I was a kid (6-7 years old) playing such a stupid and dangerous "game", stoning cars and trucks in the highway. Until I got caught and punished!

Yes, Papajohn, but the Serbian kids can't run as fast as Albanian ones, so they got arrested! See what a good training can do for saving your skin.

Peter, thanks for the "Smoke the Peacepipe" proposal but, what if you simply hate the other side, and want absolutely nothing to do with them? And the worst thing is, the West is trying to impose some sort of ethnic Disneyland where everyone sings "It's a Small World Afterall". Get real! It would take generations just to get Serbs and Albanians to even talk to each other without guns. You won't see it in your lifetime Peter, and I personally do not want to see that happen in my lifetime.

I wonder how long this hatred between Albanians and Serbs will carry on, will it be eternal or will they finally start to accept each other at some stage in the future?

What's more is, neither side will ever take blame for their own actions, they will always be quick to point out the actions of the other side, never their own. It's actually quite funny, in a way, because this theory NEVER fails!

In reply to this, I can already see people from the Serbian side saying something like "well who can blame them, after Serbs have been ethnically cleansed from Kosovo 21398723985 times since ancient times, grannies have been beaten up for speaking Serbian, 2349809435 churches were burned down bla bla bla" and from the Albanian side I can already see someone saying "well the Serbs killed 20980498525 Albanians in 1999, burned their mosques and their houses and drowned 9832749283743 kids bla bla bla". I can see it already.

I would ask if there ever was a chance that the two sides would finally get along with each other, but I can already see the Albanian side saying "not until Serbia recognizes us, since this is Albanian land since the Illyrian times 30294820394 years before those Slavs arrived from Mongolia bla bla bla" and the Serbian side saying "not until they realize that they are living in Serbian holy land and are only the majority because every Albanian household has 2309840984 children bla bla".

Come on guys, elements from both sides are behaving like barbarians, and it is not always the fault of the other!

hm, I wonder who is telling these kids to do this, or is just the education they are getting at home and/or cafe/bars. I can assure you they are not stoning K-Serb cars.
