Dear Jovan, for people like me, who are living outside of Serbia the Englisch news on B92 are absolutely essential. As you can see - the news which you would like to reject - it is the most commented of the day. even the comments are very interesting! so please, don't tell anyone what to publish or not. thanks!

Just the fact that b92 even reports what this radid Serb hater and imperialist criminal says speaks volumes. This is the man that called all Serbs murdering ***HOLES!.This is the guy who friends with the KLA.For what group of people is this "news" for becuase I know it is not Serbs.

It's perfectly logical and appropriate to call into the question the moral standing of people making accusations. Holbrooke calling Karadzic the Bin Laden of Europe is equivalent to Bush criticizing another leader for waging war on a country without UN authorization. It's called hypocrisy. Apparently only philistines point out the hypocrisy of arguments made. So be it.

I do enjoy how anyone who doesn't recite NATO/KLA propaganda is called a 'nationalist'. I don't know how I can be a Serbian nationalist when I'm not from Serbia, or of Serbian nationality. The nationalists,or at least the SRS, helped Otpor stage a coup on Oct. 5, 2000. Now they complain about how the so-called "Democratic Opposition" has done nothing for the country. Well they helped bring them to power illegally.

And Liri, no 150+ churches have been destroyed since the NATO/KLA occupation. Kosovo Albanian extremists are still the problem, because just as the terrorists murdered and attacked people prior to and during the NATO aggression, they are still doing so. And barely any of these 11th-15th century churches have been rebuilt, because they can't be. They were burnt to the ground or leveled. There are pictures of this. http://www.kosovo.net/destruction.html It is documented.
It is odd that Roma people as well as Gorani for that matter, sign up to fight for the JNA and Yugoslavia against secessionism and terrorism if they were supposedly so badly treated by Serbia as compared to your heroes, the KLA and the illegal mafia state.

Martin

It's like pouring water on geese.

Unless you buy the nationalists' discourse wholesale, you will have no credibility in their eyes. I make one point, Brian attacks me on another. If I say Karadzic was bad, he tells me to keep quiet until I admit that so was Holbrooke. It's a ridiculous way of debating. I disagree that Holbrooke is an 'Al-qaeda collaborator', but why should that prevent me from making points about the eternal and completely fruitless trading of accusations between Serbs, Albanians, Bosniaks, Hungarians, Romanian? If you disagree with me on one point why should that necessarily make you reject my other arguments? Only an insecure philstine debates like that.

And I never said anythning about credible arguments. That's Brian putting words in my mouth to make my own statement look less credible.

This is beginning to look like a sand-box discussion.

Brian, first don’t switch gears in this topic, because Kosovo is not a problem any more. It is Serbia which is not handing criminals over to justice. Holbrook was talking about Karadzic and not about Haradinaj. My reaction was to Stevo and yourself just because you avoid talking about Serbian criminals, who are a major concern of an international justice. I am not here to protect Haradinaj, nor Thaci and I do not consider them as heroes, but they are not criminals either. I think, if someone would be hero here is Albanian people who managed to survive the Serbian holocaust and now is free and independent.
Your claims are based on rumors. There were 17 churches set on flame on march 2004 (not 150 + as you are pretending) and all of them have been renovated as I said by Kosovo taxpayers (90% being Albanians) . During the war every second Albanian`s home was torched by Serbian military and Serbia never paid any money for the damage. There are thousands of Albanian body remains still in Serbia and Serbian government has not returned them back to their families. And yet, Serbia wants the land of Kosovo, perhaps with no people and no obligations.

"We attacked the Serbs constantly and murdered them every day. On every single spot. Day and night. Without hiding." - Haradinaj in Story of War and Freedom (Brian)

“The KLA "does not exist", but their members make up the leadership of every political party in Kosovo.” (Brian)
Former KLA members in Kosovo are more proud than any one else to be leaders of political parties, members of protection corps, police and any other legal formation. Their contribute to Kosovo independence is undisputable. However, some members of KLA have being tried and sued for their crimes, as individuals of course and there is nothing wrong with that. Lets look at Serbia: Radicals of Sheshel are full of hands of blood and they are threatening to take over the power in Serbia. They did not protect Serbia, as KLA did protect Albanians in Kosovo, because Serbia has never being attacked, but they killed civilians in Croatia, Bosna and Kosovo for the purpose of ethnic cleansing and they still make up the largest political party in Serbia. Kosovo is not afraid of such criminals any more, but they are going to lead with Serbian people’s life very soon and I am afraid they are going to be solely a Serbian problem.
I do not want to argue with you about Roma people situation, because I really feel that it is a sad story, but I want to tell you that they have been discriminated in Serbia many more times than in Kosovo. Kosovo has become independent only since march 17 2008 and there is time a head to see how well minority rights are going to be promoted and respected. But, as per today Roma, Ashkalis, Turky and all other minority groups have they own representatives in Kosovo parliament.

Brian

Apparently the irony is lost on Martin that a Bin Laden collaborator is calling Karadzic the Bin Laden of Europe.

That's why there are 'reciprocal accusations', because Holbrooke is a very bad, "filthy" man and has no business making such statements. When you admit that then maybe your lectures about making credible arguments will be taken seriously.

Clearly not an inspired analogy by Holbrooke. Perhaps he was trying to persuade the Bosnian Muslims that the Americans, despite their every action (or lack thereof) in recent years, have not forgotten about Karadzic but, in fact, prioritise him as strongly as Usama. But it just sounds ridiculuous and corny and cheap. If anything it suggests that the Americans have become so obsessed with their own security issues that they start seeing the rest of the world in those terms.

Still, I don't get why some people on this forum immediately on hearing some criticism of a Serb (even if he's blatantly a war criminal!) turn around a fire out their arsenal of accusations against Albanian, Bosniak or American equivalents. Can't you just accept that, yes, Karadzic is a filthy filthy man. That's undeniable and I don't think anyone disagrees with that here. If you accept that I at least will take you more seriously when you accuse Haradinaj, Bush and Oric of also evil swine (which they are). All I ever seem to hear when I'm in the Balkans or on B92 are these completely fruitless and reciprocal accusations. Karadzic, Mladic did many bad things. Srebrenica happened. Haradinaj is quite obviously also guilty of crimes. So is Oric (and Bush too for that matter - he's got a lot of blood on his hands). I don't want to sound like a moderator for how debates should be conducted but this is something that is annoying the hell out of me. It reminds me of Transylvania, where Romanians and Hungarians just throw accusations at each other (which are often true) but never recognise their own faults because they don't want to give the other person right.

Holbrooke uses hate speech and instigates the masses at revolt. I never read about his comments on Guantanamo and Abu Ghraib the way he likes to tackle the subject of Bosnia's tragedy. Bosnia seems his obsession, I mean the perfume Obsssion, but I assure everyone here it is not. He does it only because of monies. I am sure he would even enter McCains squad tomorrow if Hillary looses. Only that McCain would never invite him! He is really the last person in the world who could judge morally Karadzic. Funny, he does not even mention Mladic!

Nothing this guys says deserves a comment but here we go anyways. Holbrooke's problem is that he is loose with words, dishonest, and always wrong. That's why he never made it. He is a bottom feeder waiting for Clintons to win (which they will not) so he can get up from the muck he is in and have another 5-10 minutes of non obscurity. Comparing Karadzic and Bin Laden is just stupid, however, we should not be surprised by the gibberish he is so prone to.

Liri, you have zero credibility. Roma in Kosovo live happier now than before? Are you kidding? Here's what the Roma people, not Liri, actually say.

"The following text is an overview of Voice of Roma's recent publication, "The Current Plight of the Kosovo Roma". This groundbreaking report describes the impact of the 1999 NATO intervention and what has happened in the aftermath on the Romani communities in Kosovo. The report shows that 75% of the Roma who lived in Kosovo prior to the bombing have been driven from Kosovo by Albanian extremists. The report also highlights how Romani homes have been burned and destroyed, or occupied by force by others in the aftermath of the bombing campaign. The situation faced by the Roma of Kosovo has tragic implications for the future welfare and viability of their communities."

95% of Roma in Kosovo are without jobs. Some happiness!

The KLA "does not exist", but their members make up the leadership of every political party in Kosovo. They comprise almost the entirety of the Kosovo "Protection" Corps, but somehow they were 'disarmed'. Albanian extremists attack and kill not only Serbs, but fellow Albanians who don't comply with their extremist agenda, with impunity. You say "some churches were burned". Yeah some, try 150+. You don't even deny what happened on March 17, 2004. But you complain about one instance of arson in Belgrade, in which the criminal was prosecuted, unlike in Kosovo where criminals like Haradinaj and Thaci are treated like Gods.

Haradinaj's goons murdered Tahir Zemaj, who was going to bring evidence against Haradinaj. The 9 people who were murdered/killed during the trial were just a coincidence I suppose. Hasan Rrustemi's murder, a coincidence. 1/3 of the witnesses sought protective measures because of witness intimidation from Haradinaj's thugs. How can you deny this?

pre 18 godina

RE Brian,
Actually it is you who is lying here.
1. Haradinaj never wrote in his book that he had murdered Serbs or any one else. This is what you find in Serbian media. Have you read the book? I have.
2. There was not a single witness killed. There was one witness though who died in a traffic accident in Montenegro last year, but this case has nothing to do with witness intimidation. For more information you can require Montenegrin police report.
3. In Kosovo there have never lived 250 - 300.000 Serbs that you are claiming were forced to flee from KLA ion March 2004. It is estimated that some 200.000 Serbs lived in Kosovo before the War and most of them are still living there .
4. You are also outdated about KLA. Do you know that KLA has not existed since 1999, it was disarmed right after the War was over. So you cannot blame KLA for the events of 2004.
5. On march 2004 were more Albanians than Serbs killed. It is true that some Serbian churches were set on fire (but not burned to the ground) , and same ones got repaired from Kosovo taxpayers money, so all the churches are there in a better shape than they were before. But, who burned the mosque in 2004 in Belgrade and who burned USA embassy in 2008!
6. What you are saying about Roma people is a pure lie. It is true that some of them are not welcomed back to Kosovo, because of their bloody hands during 1998 and 1999. Roma people live in Kosovo today happy more then ever before.

Right, Haradinaj bragged in his books about murdering Serb civilians but he is not guilty. The UNMIK chief was his good friend but the Hague is "impartial". Several witnesses were murdered but that's proof that Ramush is an honest person fighting for the 'self-defense' of the Albanians. On March 17, 2004 dozens of churches were burned to the ground, and 250-300,000 Serbs have been forced to flee in terror thanks to the KLA but they are 'freedom fighters'. 75% of the Roma people have been displaced but the KLA are "heroes". Roma people have been forced by law to give their children Albanian names but the KLA is only fighting in self-defense, not for an ethnically 'pure' Albanian state.

There's documented evidence to show al-Qaeda lieutenants working in Kosovo with the KLA but it's "Serb propaganda".

Liri

pre 18 godina

Steve,
Your claim about the KLA being a terrorist organization is false. At the beginning of Albanian self defense in Kosovo some countries were taking seriously Serbian propaganda about KLA as e terrorist organization, but soon after it was clear to every one that Serbian forces were the ones who were doing terror in innocent civilians in Kosovo and KLA was a military organization in protection of its own people from such terror. That KLA was trained by Bin Laden and such is also a sick Serbian propaganda, trying to portray KLA as terrorist organization. You cannot present that propaganda as an evidence that someone is going to believe, as you cannot label Agim Ceku, nor Hashim Thaqi as terrorists as there has never being any indictments against them. The two leaders of KLA, Fatmir Limaj and Ramush Haradinaj were prosecuted and tried in ICTY in the Hague and they were found not guilty. Kosovo has shown full cooperation with ICTY, but you cannot go and prison Agim Ceku or Hashim Thaci, just because Serbia hates them as it was proven with Limaj and Haradinaj. What is enough is enough. It seems that Karadzic is a hero to you. Ok, let be like that, but let Serbia hand Mladic and Karadzic over to the Hague so the court decide about them. Serbia must comply with international rules if it wants its place in Europe.

The most interesting thing about this article as actually a side comment rather than the main headline describing Holbrooke being the Drama Queen he's known to be: that Bosnia is divided by three separate education systems which not only perpetuates, but also exasperates, the ethnic divide in what was once the heart of multiethnic Yugoslavia.

However, this is also what is being set up in Kosovo Province under the AP: separate education systems for Albanians and Serbs, who will no doubt be given heavy doses of historical revisionism, agenda setting readings, and selective accounts of one's own history that cherry picks its way through aggrandizing one's own achievements and victimhood by the "other", which minimizing the crimes and injustices commited in their name.

Reconciliation begins with the school classroom and if people are learning very different things based on ethnicity, there's little to no hope for groups cooperating in the future.

Holbrook's comment on the division of BiH education system, what an irony, we didn't have that in the former Jugoslavija (excluding Kosovo where the Albanians set up their own parallel institutions).

I think if Holbrooke is looking for a "Bin Laden of Europe", he might look no further than one of his buddies, Albanian Prime Minister Sali Berisha, who hosted KLA/al-Quaeda-funded-and-organized terror training camps on land he owns in north Albania - near to where Serbs-for-organ-removals victims have 'mysteriously' diappeared - in the late 1990's, and then Holbrooke can call up his KLA/al-Quaeda-sponsored friends Agim Ceku and Hashim Thaci. Credit where credit is due: if you are looking for a Bin Laden figure, you need to start with those who he funded and trained in terrorism. Search images of Holbrooke on the internet and, by default, you find him sitting with terrorists who have been funded and trained by Osama Bin Laden. Truly ironic that Holbrooke talks about children learning "fake histories" when he is trying to make his own version into the 'only' truth. One day, some major American news organization will pick up on these media-friendly soundbites that Holbrooke is so keen on and ask him about his own KLA/al-Quaeda terrorist connections: explain the photos of yourself with a-Quaeda funded-and-trained terrorists, Mr Holbrooke.

Steve,
Your claim about the KLA being a terrorist organization is false.

RE Brian,
Actually it is you who is lying here.

Martin

Brian

pre 18 godina

Stevo

pre 18 godina

Holbrook's comment on the division of BiH education system, what an irony, we didn't have that in the former Jugoslavija (excluding Kosovo where the Albanians set up their own parallel institutions).

The Dayton accord needs to be reviewed it is too idealistic and restrictive Republika Srpska should be given the right to secede then perhaps the education system (among other things) would become more cohesive.

If the story of his doing a deal with Karadzic is true his 'hate wording' of Karadzic by comparing him with Bin Laden shows the moral fibre of the man.

If Clinton gets back in the White House and this man is secretary of state God help Serbia.

Karadžić is Balkans' Bin Laden, says Holbrooke -

Holbrooke making a war crimes film in Bosnia? I'm sure he'll take the lead role.

Just like Hillary Clinton's sniper story in Bosnia, you can be sure CNN will follow the same line.

"Karadžić is Balkans' Bin Laden"

Haha, that was the funniest I read in a long time. I suppose Holbrooke forgot Usama bin Laden visited Izetbegovic several times during the war and he personally arranged for the foreign Mujahedin forces to enter Bosnia and fight the Serbs. That makes - Usama - himself the bin Laden of the Balkans.

Why is this relic of the past pretending he still has any semblance of power?

His ignorance, bias and corruption are as evident now as they were a decade ago.

Go away Holbrooke and stop embarrassing yourself. Serbs have never listened to you nor will they ever.

Anyone with absolute any knowledge of whats going on, shouldn't even bother to try to comprehend the logic, the hypocrisy's, and fundamental non sense that this man Holbrooke implies.

The Bin Laden family was flown out of the United States during the aftermath of 9/11/01. The Holbrookes stands for everything that is wrong with the United States.
