"I think Serbia will start to move to recognize the independence of Kosovo because we have two opinions of Kosovo there, privately everybody knows and accepts the independence but officially they need time" -Hashim Thaci (Kosova PM)

I think the only puppets we should worry about are the puppets that Belgrade is making out of its citizens in Serbia and fellow Serbs in Kosova. Nationalism and blind idealism will steer the country backwards, so even though there are potential domestic disadvantages to EU accession, Serbia has to keep up with the international system. In doing so, they can try to benefit the most within the EU rather than as an outsider.

So is the DS going to sell out Serbia before the elections?
(ZK UK, 29 March 2008 18:49)

So what has Serbia to offer in reality? The joker card "Kosovo" does not work anymore, it is'nt anymore in the EU negotiation asset of Serbia. Change of constitution has driven Serbia out from the EU perspectives - it has to be respected - and also it's consequences. Jeremic's knows that, his sunday speeches and promises are worth not a word anymore until a new government is installed.

miri, as mentioned he did attend but did not wish to watch any puppet shows.

Check http://www.euronews.net/index.php?page=info&article=477773&lng=1

Remember, not even the EU recognises Kosovo so who knows under what capacity your little puppet has attended but Serbia is not interested.

Desperate words from a desperate man. How can Serbia sign the SAA when a majority of parliament will reject it? Tadic will sign his letter of resignation before he signs the SAA. A year from now, we will see how much Tadic and Jeremic will be discredited.

Don't look at it as a sell-out; look at it as being in a perfect position to wield veto powers down the road, should it ever come to that.

If you know what I mean ... ;)
(PD NL, 29 March 2008 21:04)

If Serbia joins EU it will lose so much power over its' internal affairs. From minority rights to monetary adjustments, all coming from Brussel. If you suggest that Serbia should give all of its' own power just to veto Kosova than I don't think that's a smart idea.

miri

pre 18 godina

miri, you are incorrect. Jeremić did attend but he was not interested in talking to puppets.

First, I am correct in my statement. Second, I don't know if you got the meaning of my posting but I am "glad" that it got your interest. The point being made is that it seems that even these "little" western ballkan countries, among which Kosova is a participant, don't care whether Serbia is present or not. For you is that Jeremic is not "interested" to talk to puppets. Let it be like this for you but notice that in a meanwhile the world still goes around, whether your friend Jeremic is interested on that or not.

Mr Jeremic,
Do the following, then you can take out your pen to sign the SAA:
1. Hand over Mladic! This time for real. Empty promises won't help. Your predecessors have overly consumed that option!
2. Stop calling back your diplomats from the countries that recognized Kosova's independence! Soon you will have all your diplomatic corps in Belgrade! :)
3. Recognize Kosova!
4. Apologize for the crimes committed against Kosovar Albanians in 98-99 and even before that.
5. Understand Serbia has much to loose if it keeps believing and behaving like the 'pivot' country of the Balkans and starts indicating conditions to the EU.

In Serbian language there is a proverb "za dobrim konjem prasina se dize" which in EU-USA-Serbian relation I would transform into "za snaznim konjem prasina se dize". Some countires in a divided European Union know that only by Serbia's integration, it becomes a political body and not an import-export company that is now. In the meantime, America's administration does not in actual fact want Serbia in EU, not because it will gain something out of it in the long run, but only because USA's administration is insanely envous of the idea of a strong Europe. On the other hand, Russia is only interested in selling gas and oil to Europe and does not care for more, which is another moral, economic and strategic punishment for USA. It is high time for USA to start being more concrete in peaceful international relations. We have many problems to resolve: gas pollution, water scarcity: it is the high time for long time politics, not the short sighted instant privileges.

One little detail that is left out from the article is that Jeremic refused to participate in the afterwards meeting of representatives of Croatia, Kosova, Bosnia-Hercegovina, Macedonia, Montenegro and Albania to discuss mutual partnership and entry into EU. Of course no one expects Jeremic to sit with Thaci in the same table so soon. It would be a little awkward for him!!

What is vuk going to sign when Belgium and Holland both reject/veto Serbia's membership if War criminals are still hiding in serbia? Again, b92 is at it again with more unconfirmed information, just like its amateur reporting of the balkan drug route in Kosova...mere work of propaganda machine. All doomed to fail.

Serbia has been ready for a long time, but is the EU ready to take Serbia in without giving us any more challanges and impossible tasks?

This is the question the EU should answer to Serbia...Serbia has been trying to comply for years and all EU has done is stab Serbia in the back and in the front as well...

"So is the DS going to sell out Serbia before the elections?"

Definitly looks that way, we could as always expect to be stabbed by the €Urophiles any time and so we where ready, but stabbed from one of our own?

What is this article attempting..? More misinformation? Belgium and Holland already veto any Serbian deal if war criminals are still hiding in Serbia.

To b92, keep your headlines without emotions and your people just might move in a peaceful and prosperous future. Otherwise, you might all end up ..again in 1999, with your kind of yellow journalism.

Jeremic stressed Belgrade realized its role in bringing Balkan war crimes suspects to the Yugoslav war crimes tribunal in The Hague was key to normalizing relations.

"We shall locate, arrest and hand over Ratko Mladic and other remaining (war crimes) indictees," Jeremic told the EU ministers.
