I don't think all parties want at some stage some type of EU integration - but personally speaking I don't think that Serbia (including Kosovo) has any reason to sell its cradle so that it can join the 'elite' club that only serves the aims of the powerful EU nations. Whilst all this is going on - Kosovo will never ever be independent - FACT. It took Germany 40 years to reunite, Cyprus has never united in over 25 years, troops will be in Iraq and Afganhistan for decades - they will never be at peace!

Spain has fears about recognition of Kosovo because of Basque separatists. Russia will never support Kosovo - only Serbia with Kosovo. The Albanians in Kosovo are in dreamland if they believe that they are independent! They never will be and the situation created by the west has only lit the flames - there will be trouble for many decades to come. The western nations are too arrogant to backtrack on their recognition of a false state and they have had their pockets lines by the US to recognise an illegal snatch of Serbian land...Serbia with Kosovo together as one is the only way forward.

Ratko 'Everyone says that Serbia wants to join the EU (as do a lot of other former eastern bloc countries)....Why?'

This is a question for SRS. They also say they are for joining the EU, but not now because of Kosovo.

Do you think that SRS are lying about wanting to join the EU or are wrong about it?

Any SRS supporters care to address my questions about the Serbian economy?

Everyone says that Serbia wants to join the EU (as do a lot of other former eastern bloc countries)....Why? What can the EU offer? If the former Yugoslav countries cannot govern themselves as part of a federation of six countries....why on earth would they want to join a bloc of 20-something countries? The EU cannot offer Serbia anything that they already do not have - the EU will take advantage of cheap labour buy up cheap property investments and nothing else. The EU only want Serbia so that the UK, Germany, France (and the US) can invest in our great nation...Serbia can and will survive - with Kosovo - without being allied to EU.

Let's see you win Kosovo back, Tomo. Let's see you promote Serbia's image in the eyes of the rest of the world -- get everyone else to see Serbia as the grand nation that you do. Make everyone see that Milosevic, Karadzic, Mladic and Seselj were really heroes. Oh, and don't forget to reunite Krajina, Republika Srpska and Montenegro with Mother Serbia, too. Meanwhile, reduce unemployment and inflation to 4% and keep them there; make sure the economy grows at an annual clip of around 8% over the next decade just so you can make up for all the years Serbia has lagged behind the EU; and for God's sake, make all the ethnic minorities see that they should feel privileged to be citizens of a Serbia led by the SRS. Get those Roma to believe they don't need to live in those awful slums anymore, that all they need to do is show up in the classroom and study hard like all the little Serbian kids, who of course will make them feel welcome and equal. Tell those silly Vojvodina Hungarians that there was never any ethnic tension stirred up by thugs supporting your party, that the SRS has always been a huge proponent of ethnic diversity. I'm confident you'll achieve all these things, Tomo, because you're a great Serb and it's in your blood. You're destined to triumph, destined to guide Serbia back to her rightful place of champion of the free world.

smile as Nikolic already pointed out DSS cannot expect a major role in a SRS government - particularly when DS receive about 7 percent of the vote and SRS receive 10 times more votes.

Nikolic wouldnt be able to offer DSS much even if he were so minded, because it isnt possible to justify. God knows it was hard enough justifying Kostunica being PM in the current government with the miserable amount of support he has.

So will Nikolic offer economic porfolio to DSS, or foreign minister or deputy PM? I get hysterical (in a funny way) just thinking about SRS in charge of economic policy in Serbia.

Afrim Kosovo and Metohija is a Serbian province which is currently undergoing a dark peroid in it's history due to Albanians seizing control of it with NATO/US backing in order to create a NATO stronghold in the Balkan to further their strategic interests and expand the American Empire.

End of Story.

You people love to talk about majority's and self determination yes? Well here you go Mr.Hoxa 5 Billion people out of 6 Billion have "self-determined" that your country does not exist, along with the UN, but lets not allow silly trivialities like that to stand in the way of "ethnic Albania".

afrim, there is a big difference between declaring independence and achieving it. Therefore, there is no reason Nikolic needs to leave politics.

af,

to declare independence and to become independent, as carl bildt our friend and yours will tell you for free :) are two very different things.
but i'm sure you know already.
anyway we know srs are ready to lead. serbia is ready to give them the mandate. but they will have to include dss in significant roles for everyone's sake and i'm sure they will, even if they win absolute majorty, 50 plus 1.

Its amusing to read that Nikolic think its a plus to be at the beck and call of foreign investors and that he supports EU / German investment.

There is something that Nikolic is only beginning to understand. That a party that will lead must have policies and cannot simply talk about what they are against.

How long will a Nikolic government take to join the EU?

How will SRS solve the problem of unemployment? Will it increase public investment to create jobs? By how much? Is SRS aware that this will increase inflation?

What is an acceptable rate of inflation?

Is the dinar overvalued, undervalued - what rate should the national bank intervene?

My goodness, the country may go downhill if Nikolic wins he will have to offer solutions. If, as I suspect, he has no answers, I'm not sure his government will last half a term.

Well, let's hope the Radicals take power. These are not the same Radicals that sent forces to Krajina and RS, these are new radicals that will stand up to the US and EU using diplomatic not millitary means, unlike DS which does not even dare to sew countries recognising UDI. Let's not forget that Seselj gave away free land to Serb refugees from Krajina and RS, unlike all the other politicians that have ruled Serbia.

" The world will crumble on me if Kosova declares independence" Said Nikolic few months ago when he was living in denial which he still does. Then he declared " I will leave politics if Kosova becomes independent". Now he has changed his mind and words and continues to be in politics even after the fact that Kosova declared independence.
