what's left one asks? the amputation of kosovo, of course. i've said it before and i'll say it again. the eu wants the serbs, but does not want the albanians. think about it.

the eu simply cannot accept the 'whole' of serbia, as-is. and, how would it look if the eu said, "ok the Serbian provinces of central serbia and vojvodina can enter the schengen zone, but kosovo cannot?"

you mean that parts of one country can enter the schengen zone, but others cannot? NO! you make the unwanted part its own country, and supervise the heck out of it...to make sure none of its citizens run into europe!

I'm not necessarily supporting this view, but this seems all too obvious to me. i'm just quite surprised that the albanians aren't much more angry about this.

I assume one of the conditions is that you are about to start issuing Machine Readable/Biometric passports.

As far as I am aware machine readable passports are a minimum for visa free access. You will soon have them and when you do I see no problem with adding you to the white list.
But to say nothing has change in untrue - you have enacted the passport law, and I assume the visa free status will not apply to old passport holders.

Serbia could probably have got there quicker if they had a goernment responsible enough to change the passports earlier - They still say FRY!

Common, stop this mockery, please.
There is no such a thing as “meeting the conditions”… Bulgaria and Romania never managed it in the first place and are in EU already.
As late as Jan 1st, apparently, the best EU could offer to Serbs (and even for that they expected eternal gratitude fron an average Serb) was the “simplified application procedure” and infamous 35 E.
Now, all of a sudden – they are promised (again) they are almost to enter the visa-free regime?!
What , so drastically changed, in just 40 days? Is it possible that Serbs managed to fix all those problems listed on the laundry list? In just 40 days?
If that is the case, Serbia will be ready to join EU on March 11th , about 10:45 AM.

It is good that EU is considering letting Serbians out for a walk, but they could do the same 3 years ago. Every time EU makes some allowance for Serbia it is done half-heartedly and only if hard pressed.
This insincerity is so in your face it makes you not wanting anything to do with them.

Yes, of course, soon we will find out that Serbia is actually totally ready for free visa regime, as soon as you send your mission and Serbia close its eyes..

This makes an even bigger mockery of what teh EU were offering the other day when they decided to stab Tadic in the back with their decision on illegal missions to amputate Serbia!
