Message from Archbishop Desmond Tutu

I send you warm greetings from Cape Town South Africa. We live far from each other but we are united in our common suffering and our common humanity and hope. I am grateful for the changes which are taking place in Serbia and send my warmest good wishes to President Kostunica and all the people of Serbia.

I am very pleased to hear that your Conference will focus on issues of Truth, Reconciliation, Tolerance and democracy. These issues are concerned with a basic human right – our freedom.

However, true freedom cannot exist without responsibility in ourselves in our communities and in our national life. I wish you well as you debate these important issues.
