Ballads at the End of Time completes the cycle of music-philosophical
themes begun in the previous album, The
Last Balkan Tango (B92CD 204). In contrast to the variety of
chromatic energy of this splendid and rather edgy disc, the songs
from the new album have a balanced grace in their crystalline elegance.
Boris Kovac belongs to that tiny band of composers and producers
from the European world music scene who have succeeded in breaking
all geographical and other boundaries after a thorough local exploration
of local music tradition, thus bringing a new dominant dimension
to the musical heritage while managing to avoid all the clichés
typical of the random mixtures demanded by the musical market. (Louise
Ray, Lisbon, 2003)
