Bosnia-Herzegovina court annuls results of RS referendum

The Constitutional Court said on its website that the decision to call a referendum, passed by the RS Assembly on July 15 this year, was contrary to the Constitution.

The court thereby adopted a demand by the Bosniak (Muslim) member of the Bosnia-Herzegovina Presidency Bakir Izetbegovic, who asked for "a solution to the constitutional and legal dispute with the Republika Srpska (Serb Republic) entity" regarding a decision on calling the referendum.

RS President Milorad Dodik told the Banja Luka newspaper Glas Srpske that the court's decision was known in advance "since it is staffed by senior officials of the Party of Democratic Action (SDA)."

Bakir Izetbegovic is the leader of that party.

Dodik also said the ruling was "a direct blow to the democratic right of a people," Beta reported.
