Kosovo's "sponsors" are pressuring countries - FM

Dacic said in a written statement carried by the government's website over the weekend that "all countries that do that should be aware that this is an act against the territorial integrity of Serbia, which threatens the (Kosovo) dialogue in Brussels too."

"Here it is not about Suriname, but about the fact that without Serbia’s knowledge an immense pressure is made by certain influential countries to make others recognize Kosovo, which will definitely leave a mark on our bilateral relations with these countries," he stressed.

Dacic "specified that Suriname is the 106th country to recognize the independence of Kosovo and not the 11st, as President of Kosovo Hashim Thaci said."

The Serbian government will continue its principled policy of resolving all outstanding issues through dialogue, but it will never recognize the unilaterally proclaimed independence of Kosovo because it is totally contrary to international law, he concluded.

Ethnic Albanians in Serbia's southern province unilaterally declared independence in early 2008, an act Serbia considers a violation of its territorial integrity.
