Gazprom cutting supplies to Ukraine could affect Serbia

"Ukraine has not paid for March deliveries and is extracting all it can from the current paid supply, seriously risking an early termination of the advance settlement and a supply cutoff," CEO Alexei Miller said.

"It takes about two days to get payment from Naftogaz deposited to a Gazprom account. That's why a delivery to Ukraine of 114 million cubic meters will lead to a complete termination of Russian gas supplies as early as in two days, which creates serious risks for the transit to Europe,” Miller said, quoted by RT.

Earlier this month, Russian Energy Minister Aleksandr Novak said that the Ukrainian gas debt to Gazprom had reached USD 2.3 billion.

Ukraine's Naftogaz on Monday accused Russia of failing to deliver gas that Kiev had paid for in advance.

Russia provides about 30 percent of Europe's gas supply, and 55 percent of this is transported via Ukraine, including the deliveries received by Serbia.
