Serbian Prime Minister Aleksandar Vučić said on Wednesday that the EU "is not and cannot be a bogeyman for Orthodox nations."

"EU can't be bogeyman for Orthodox nations"

According to a statement issued by the government in Belgrade, the pair discussed "improving bilateral political and economic cooperation."

Vučić and Leanca also "exchanged opinions about the importance of European integrations for both countries," while the Serbian prime minister "stressed the importance of peace and stability that the EU accession process brings to a country and a region."

He informed the prime minister of Moldova "about comprehensive economic measures undertaken by the Serbian government in cooperation with the EU, the International Monetary Fund, World Bank and other international financial institutions to ensure a better future for the country."

Vučić also wished Leanca "a lot of success at the parliamentary election scheduled for November 30, and invited him to visit Serbia afterwards to discuss the continuation and improvement of cooperation between the two countries," said the government on its website.
