Construction permits "soon" to be issued within 28 days

Zorana Mihajlović has said that the Serbian parliament would adopt a new law on planning and construction "in July or August at the latest."

Construction permits "soon" to be issued within 28 days

Mihajlović was meeting with local officials of the towns of Subotica, Tutin, and Zaječar, and told reporters afterwards that "the law was prepared with many foreign partners and investors and it will result in simpler and shorter procedures."

Instead of waiting for the permit for as long as three to four years, as it has been so far, only 28 days will now be needed and the clients will be able to complete all the necessary paperwork at one place, she explained.

The government will present in September its proposal to deal with the issue of 1.5 million illegal buildings, Mihajlović also noted.

"Construction monitoring will also be tightened, so no one will from now on be able to build without a construction permit," she stressed.
