The 26th traditional Belgrade Marathon kicked off on Sunday morning. 2,800 runners from 40 countries took part in the race.

BELGRADE The 26th traditional Belgrade Marathon kicked off on Sunday morning. 2,800 runners from 40 countries took part in the race. Over ten thousand recreational runners participated in the five kilometer race dubbed Fun Run. 26th Belgrade Marathon held The race was officially opened by Serbian Prime Minister Ivica Dacic, Head of the EU Delegation to Serbia Vincent Degert and Belgrade City Assembly Speaker Aleksandar Antic. The starting signal was fired by legendary U.S. track and field athlete Carl Lewis. Kenyan Edwin Kiplagat Kiptum won the men’s marathon, clocking 2:19.30. The race was officially opened by Serbian Prime Minister Ivica Dačić, Head of the EU Delegation to Serbia Vincent Degert and Belgrade City Assembly Speaker Aleksandar Antić.

The starting signal was fired by legendary U.S. track and field athlete Carl Lewis.

Kenyan Edwin Kiplagat Kiptum won the men’s marathon, clocking 2:19.30. His fellow Kenyans Eliud Kibet Kirui and Boyash Mayaka came in second and third.

Serbia’s best long-distance runner Olivera Jevtić won the women’s race, clocking 2:36.09.
