The testimony of Dick Marty in the Medicus case trial in Pristina has been postponed, a spokesperson for the EU mission, EULEX, has said. The former Swiss senator and Council of Europe (CoE) rapporteur was due to testify on Monday. Marty's testimony in Medicus case postponed Marty, who in his role as CoE investigator in 2010 submitted a report containing allegations about trafficking in human organs in Kosovo, was supposed to testify in a trial before the Pristina District Court concerning charges of illegal kidney transplants at Medicus clinic. This has now been postponed for September. At a hearing on April 4, the District Court accepted the request by EULEX prosecutor Jonathan Ratel for the Council of Europe rapporteur on trafficking in human organs to testify at the trial. The defense objected to the calling of new witnesses, "especially of experts who are part of the EULEX mission in Kosovo, as they believe that EULEX-related officials are biased" - reported Tanjug news agency. Media reports said at the time that EULEX had repeatedly rejected to link transplants at the Medicus clinic to Marty's report on trafficking in human organs in Kosovo and Albania during the war over Kosovo. The report, submitted in late 2010, contains suspicion that members of the ethnic Albanian so-called Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA) in 1999 and 2000 kidnapped Serb and other civilians in Kosovo, illegally imprisoned them in northern Albania, to finally remove and sell their body parts in the black organ market. However, the document also makes the connection with peace-time organ trafficking crimes that took place in Kosovo during the 2000s, where the victims were lured in from abroad to Pristina with promises of monetary gain. The Marty report notes that the criminal activity it addressed, "which developed with the benefit of the chaos prevailing in the region, at the initiative of certain KLA militia leaders linked to organized crime", had continued in other forms - "as demonstrated by an investigation being carried out by the European Union Rule of Law Mission in Kosovo (EULEX) relating to the Medicus clinic in Pristina".
