According to a press release, Serbian and Russian soldiers "marched and assumed control of the area assigned to them, under conditions of activities by groups of saboteurs and unlawful enemy armed formations."

They "carried our reconnaissance activities in their assigned area of responsibility, mounted an elastic defense, and destroyed enemy airborne groups and units," the statement said.

Apart from improving their level of training to carry out specified tasks, the goal of the exercise was to strengthen interoperability between the two armies - and the drill represented an opportunity to align standards for future joint tactical exercises, the statement added.

The Serbian soldiers - who on Thursday also played a football game with their colleagues - used equipment, armaments, and vehicles borrowed from the Russian Army during the exercise, the MoD said.
