NATO unmoved by Thaci's letter; Thaci remains defiant

Pristina-based Albanian language daily Koha Ditore is reporting his on Thursday, citing unnamed NATO officials.

They said that NATO's position on the issue was made clearly known on March 8, when Stoltenberg issued a statement expressing his "serious concern" regarding the plans, telling Pristina that such "unilateral steps" are not helpful, and urging it to "remaining close contact with Belgrade."

In a separate article, the daily writes that Thaci, who serves as Kosovo's president and who earlier this month launched the initiative in the assembly in Pristina, remains defiant despite the opposition to his proposal coming from the international community.

According to Thaci, "both the local and the international public" were informed "three years ago" about the plans to transform the KSF.

"This action could be considered unilateral if someone from the international community were alluding that Kosovo should receive Serbia's permission for its sovereign decisions. I'll be clear: that will not happen," Thaci said in a Facebook post.
