Slasta Address: 17 Kralja Aleksandra Blvd., Belgrade Phone: +281-11-32-33-411 Web site: donesi.com Working hours of restaurant and kitchen: from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., closed on Sunday (kitchen open from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.) City transportation: all leading down the Boulevard and Takovska Street Credit cards: Dina, Visa, Visa Electron, MasterCard, Maestro Garden or terrace: yes, garden, approx. 30 seats Parking: yes, 2nd zone Disabled: yes Music: ambiance, Latino, Italian Menu: in Serbian and English Staff speak: English Cuisine: Vegetarian and macrobiotic Main courses: from 450 to 650 dinars Breakfast: yes Delivery: yes, city center, free of charge Available for hire: yes, by agreement This goes for Slasta as well, a quaint, rustic spot next to the Saint Marko church where only one person takes care of and serves guests. The vegetarian menu includes pastas, mushroom stews, Chinese and Indian plates. There are also macrobiotic burgers, tofu prepared in several ways and a variety of vegetables. The trout caught our eye, as did the sushi, so we decided to try both, the latter accompanied by miso soup. The nori sushi consists of rice, garlic and fish, it’s in one piece and isn’t as compact as the Japanese version, but since this isn’t a sushi bar, there’s no room for complaint. The trout was superb, served with kuzu sauce, rice and vegetables, with a side order of various cereals, showing that the chef knows his way with macrobiotic recipes. For the end, the macro apple cake with raisins and integral cereals is a tasty and healthy dessert. Our complaint goes to the quality of service and appearance of the toilet, unforgivable for this type of restaurant. We hope these things will be remedied soon. Meal for two, with dessert: 1,730 dinars. The idea of vegetarian and macrobiotic restaurants is still rare hereabouts, so these places are still trying to “get the hang of it”.
