"We believe in our goals. This government is successful in realizing them. Our foreign policy has not caused any problems for the government, it has only brought praise," Dacic said.

Asked if he believes he will remain in the government if a reshuffle takes place in April, he said this is a question for Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic.

"If I were the prime minister, I would always have someone who is my closest associate and who I trust as the foreign minister. In this sense, it is up to him (Vucic) to see whether he trusts me, since my policy as the foreign minister cannot be different from his," Dacic said.

According to him, "a lot has been done to promote this government," while Serbia's international position is today "completely different than it was some ten years ago."

"I believe in the goals this government set for itself - for Serbia to do better and not to miss that chance. I'll believe even if I'm not in the government," he stressed.

Speaking about the situation in his Socialist Party of Serbia (SPS), Dacic said there is "resistance to reforms," but that the time had come to "open the door for the people who have not been active in politics before."

He reiterated that the government has not yet made a decision on a candidate for the next UN secretary-general, that 20 new ambassadors will be appointed in the coming months, and that "a bug reform" of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs would take place.

Serbia pursues a policy of military neutrality and has not changed its stance on NATO after the recent signing of the IPAP agreement.

"Serbia does not want to become a member of NATO, but wants best possible relations with the Alliance which is everywhere around us," the foreign minister pointed out.
