Researchers' Night to be held in several cities in Serbia

This year's Researchers' Night will be held in 9 cities and towns in Serbia and 5 rural areas.

All the programmes that will comprise the event are new, interactive, have been adapted to all ages and do not require earlier knowledge in the field, the organisers have said.

Science vans will cruise through Serbia on September 26, bringing the best Researchers' Night has to offer to rural areas.

Novi Sad will have interactive science items on display, shows entitled Walk through the Solar System and Sound of Physics, science performances and a quiz.

The people of Nis will be able to step into the Ice Age through chemical experiments, see volcanic erruptions or sign their names by using invisible ink in a real forensic laboratory.

Kragujevac will be joining the event for the first time this year and the people there will be able to see how continents have shifted throughout history. They will also have an opportunity to witness a fire tornado and discover how a flaw in the human eye led to the creation of motion picture.

Jagodina and Cuprija will also host the event for the first time this year. The programme there will include time machines that will take visitors to the age of the dinosaurs and history written in Egyptian hieroglyphs.

Scientists and researchers from different fields will meet with people at Belgrade's Trg Republike, former department store Nama, along the street Knez Mihailova, at the Belgrade University Rectorate, in Studentski park, at the Museum of Pedagogy, Frescoe Gallery and Usce Shopping Centre.

The Knez Mihailova street will become a treasure hunting ground with secret locations throughout its length.

The Rectorate building will be turned into a recycling quarter. All those interested will be able to learn how many useful objects and clothing items can be made from waste.

Researchers' Night is funded by the Horizons 2020 programme, which is the EU's largest programme to research and innovation.
