Opposition leader: Serbia is bankrupt

In conversation with local DS members, he noted that "a competent and adequate response to the problem of bankruptcy must be found."

"A state that takes out loans in order to pay salaries and pensions is a state that is essentially bankrupt, but nobody says the words, because it has not formally happened and they want to cover it up," said Pajtić.

He added that the Democrats offered "support, knowledge, and experience" to the government, but encountered "rejection, insults, and political attacks."

"It is obvious that among the people who run this country there is still no awareness of how big the problem we face as a country and as a society and how many wrong moves they made in the past period," said the leader of the Democrats.

Pajtić added that he started his tour to meet with the party's members and supporters because, as he said, the DS and the opposition in general are "to a large extent under a media blockade."

He also stated that the Democratic Party "continues to follow the path that involves, on the one hand, the best political, economic and cultural alternative, and that is the path of European integration."

"At the same time it is necessary that as a country and as a people we retain the awareness of our own identity, and that the path towards the EU integration is dignified and takes into account above all the needs of the people who live in these areas," said Pajtić.
