PM: Serbia is Russia's best friend in Europe

Speaking partly in Russian and partly in Serbian, the prime minister said that his country's position on this issue was "very clear," and added that important joint projects await Serbia and Russia, and that the two countries "will continue to develop them together."

"Serbia has signed an agreement to build South Stream, period. Our position on this is absolutely clear. We talk about it with our European partners and with our Russian partners. This is a very important energy project for Serbia and Serbia does not change its opinion depending on the current political situation in the world," Vučić said.

Our task, he emphasized, is to work for the good of our country, our people, for the sake of Serbia's energy security.

Commenting on the situation in Ukraine, Vučić said that the way out of of the crisis was only one, and that "there is no alternative to a peaceful resolution."

"Anyone who thinks otherwise is very wrong. Achieving a lasting peace means seeking a short road to solve all problems. No one should be dying, and Slav brothers should not be shedding blood," said he.
