Two Palestinians were killed overnight as Israel continued its attacks on the Gaza Strip, bringing the death toll in the conflict to 2,122.

An Israeli army spokesman said that the warplanes carried out 16 attacks. From midnight on Sunday, there were no rocket attacks against Israel. Two mosques, one in the north zone in Beit Hanun and one in Gaza were destroyed in the strikes, said witnesses, AFP reported.The Israeli offensive began on July 8 with air strikes in order to stop the rocket attacks from Gaza, and nine days later spread to the ground to destroy tunnels dug under the border for attacks on Israel.
The operation will continue until the goals are achieved, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu repeated on Sunday.
Officials in Gaza announced last night that since the beginning of the conflict in the Gaza Strip 89 entire families were killed in the Israeli bombardment. Among the dead was 577 children, 260 women and 101 elderly people. The number of injured has reached 10,850, including 3,300 children and more than 2,000 women and 400 elderly.
In the last few days Palestinian websites have been publishing photos of damaged residential and commercial buildings, claiming that Israel changed its policy and seeks to inflict as much as possible damage to infrastructure and commercial centers.
The school year was supposed to start in Gaza on Saturday, but the opening of schools for 500,000 students has been postponed until further notice.
The UN agency for Palestinian refugees UNWRA has announced, however, that it will help to organize psychosocial support, and use new technologies and educational programs via television, where possible, as well as materials for students to study at home and thus help start the school year without opening the schools, as usual in times of peace .
