Flood dangers subsiding, better weather next week

Energy Minister Aleksandar Antić was in Kostolac to say that despite the flooding of strip coal mines at Drmno and the shutting down of some components of the Kostolac power plant, the country's energy system was "not in danger."

He also revealed that coal production would be stabilized during the morning, and the plant's Blok (block) A2 brought back online.

The minister expects that the situation could be brought completely back to normal within the next 15 days if the weather stabilizes.

Water is receding from the streets of Vršac this morning as well, despite the fact that weak rain continues there on Friday.

Forecasters said that Friday would be unstable, with thunderstorms and rain in some areas, but that Serbia would then, until August 8, have mostly sunny and warmer weather.
