Serbia's food exports to the Russian market reached USD 117 million in the first half of 2014, reflecting a year-on-year increase of 68 percent.

Chamber of Commerce: Food exports to Russia increase 68 pct

It is expected that Serbia's exports of food products to Russia will be worth USD 300 million by the end of year.

In 2013, the exports of food products totaled USD 184.6 million, reflecting a year-on-year rise of 13 percent.

The world's major companies in the food sector are considering possibilities of investing in Serbia, organizing the production and taking the advantage of the model of preferential product placement in the markets of Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan with which Serbia has signed agreements on free trade and tariff-free exports, PKS officials noted.

The overall trade between Serbia and Russia stood at USD 1.64 billion for the first six months of 2014, and reflected a year-on-year rise of 21.6.

The exports from Serbia totaled USD 486. 7 million, and imports USD 1.16 billion.
