EXIT festival starts with "spectacular fireworks"

The festival, crowned this year with the much-coveted Best Major European Festival award, dedicated its opening ceremony to the greatest Serbian scientist of all time, Nikola Tesla.

The firework display lighting up the sky ten minutes before midnight was an overture to the performance of EXIT's day one headliners, the British electro-pop duo Pet Shop Boys, which “rocked” the walls of the Fortress and showed that this year's festival could well be as spectacular as the organizers promised.

Before Pet Shop Boys took on the Main Stage, the most popular francophone performer of today, Stromae, warmed up the crowd for the main event of the evening.

Disclosure Live were the stars of the Dance Arena, while the Fusion Stage hosted numerous artists from abroad and local drum and bass legends Disciplin A Kitschme.

More than 400 musicians from around the world are set to perform on 20 stages at the Novi Sad Petrovaradin Fortress during the 15th EXIT festival, which lasts through Sunday, July 13. The program starts every day at 7 p.m.

According to organizers, the festival is expected to attract twice as many visitors from abroad compared to its 2013 edition.
