"Unfortunately this trend has continued with a new element; individuals arrested because of what they write on their blogs or in online comments. This is why I issued another public statement, on May 27, to bring this to the attention of the government. A number of institutions in Serbia monitoring and observing media freedom have also spoken out publically about this incident," Mijatović wrote, and added:

"This development has continued during the weekend and on Monday the website of Peščanik was attacked and blocke."

"My message to the government remains; these actions need to be investigated and those behind them must be held accountable. It is the role and duty of the government to protect and nurture freedom of expression whether online or offline, as enshrined in the nation’s constitution. I am pleased with prime minister Vučić’s assurances that these issues will be addressed," the OSCE official said.

"Prime Minister Vučić and I agreed to meet at the earliest convenience to discuss these and other media related issues. My office will continue to monitor these issues and stands ready to assist in any way we can to help in this matter," Mijatović wrote.

Earlier on Monday, Vučić sent a letter to the OSCE requesting an apology over allegations of media censorship, or evidence that it was taking place in Serbia.
