EU commissioner announces trip to Belgrade

He will be the second EU official to visit the Serbian capital within one week, and only several days after the new government was formed.

EU's Catherine Ashton was in Belgrade on Monday, April 28, "to convey Brussels' support to the pending reforms and Serbia's further progress along the EU path," Tanjug reported.

"The visit to Belgrade, to take place shortly after the one paid by EU Foreign Policy and Security Chief Catherine Ashton, is an indication of our high expectations regarding the new Serbian government," Fule told reporters, adding that he will visit Priština immediately afterwards.

He said that real progress is expected in the implementation of the political agreement between Belgrade and Priština, and that it should "enable both Serbia and Kosovo to make progress in their EU accession processes."

Asked what messages he will be bringing to Belgrade from Brussels, Fule said that he will "first convey the messages to the new Serbian leadership."
