The committee will soon meet again to decide on whether to support the government proposed by Vučić, he noted.

When asked about the rotating parliament speaker position, Stefanović stated that talks with parties with seats in parliament will be held on Wednesday to discuss the issue, adding that it would be good to reach a consensus.

"The concept of changing the speaker each year would be a sign of the parliament's higher level of democracy while also showing that the SNS does not insist on having its people in important positions," said Stefanović, who is the outgoing parliament speaker.

The SNS will have good candidates for the position of the speaker should there be no agreement on the issue, he remarked.

SNS leader Aleksandar Vučić said on Tuesday that he offered Ivica Dačić's Socialists (SPS) to join the new government, where they would be represented "in proportion to their strength," adding that he expects their decision regarding this offer.

"I made an offer to the SPS in accordance with their strength which is significantly lower than that of the SNS, but bearing in mind the need to form a Serbia of unity and not of division,” Vučić said in the session of the party's main board.

Vučić said that the SNS Presidency tasked him the day before to work out the solutions so the future government would have 17 members, and be small and efficient.

The leader of the Progressives said that he will present the full makeup of the government before the Main Board on April 25, when the SNS will voice its opinion on the solutions, after which the government should be formed on April 27.

"Many will be discontented, but a small government cannot have a lot of ministers from the ranks of the SNS. However, your efforts can contribute to the development of Serbia," Vučić said.

Vučić's party 158 out of 250 seats in the Serbian parliament during early elections held on March 16.
