Interest in joint participation in UN and EU operations offers opportunities for further enhancement of cooperation, as do military economic ties and experience-sharing regarding security and defense aspects of EU accession, Rodić said.

The Serbian Ministry of defense has fulfilled all obligations envisioned by action plans for meeting European Commission recommendations, said Rodić, who named "improving administrative capacities for more active cooperation as part of the Joint security and defense policy, participation in EU crisis management operations and development of joint projects with the European defense Agency" as priorities.

During the official visit to Italy, Rodić attended the unveiling of a book titled For the Serbian military - A story forgotten, where he said that the marking of the centenary of the outbreak of the Great War is hugely important to Serbia, but also for the process of reconciliation and unification of Europe.

By today's joint commemorative event we want to encourage all nations to work together towards building a safer, more secure environment, Rodić said, adding that prosperity and well-being should be common goals, but that the years of suffering and the role of the small man in making come true the great dream of a more humane world should not be forgotten.
