Air Serbia moves to new check-in system

This will be yet another milestone in Air Serbia’s journey to becoming a leading regional carrier, the national carrier has said in a release.

“Once complete, this important systems upgrade will enhance the Air Serbia customer experience at Belgrade International Airport, streamline how we handle our passengers, deliver functionality for check-in which until now was not possible, and ultimately, provide a new and more efficient departure control system for our staff at our hub,” Air Serbia CEO Dane Kondić has said.

For tickets issued on or after March 1 and travel on or after May 14, free baggage allowance accepting on Air Serbia operating flights will be determined according to the number of pieces of luggage instead of the current weight concept, Air Serbia said.

The free baggage allowance for economy class passengers will be one piece of luggage not exceeding 23 kg and the sum of dimensions (length + width + height) of 158 cm. Business class will be allowed to carry two pieces of maximum weight of 32 kg whose sum of dimensions is 158 cm each.

The changes introduced are aimed at adapting Air Serbia’s conditions of carriage to the standards of European airlines, the national carrier said.

Air Serbia started operations as Serbia's national airline on October 26, 2013.

Based at the Nikola Tesla airport in Belgrade, it flies to 29 passenger and cargo destinations in Europe and the Mediterranean.

Serbia's national airline also offers overseas flights to Asia, Australia and the Americas with its code share partners and Etihad Airways, which has a 49-percent stake in Air Serbia.

Air Serbia currently has a fleet of ten narrow-body and four turboprop aircraft, and has recently confirmed an order of 10 Airbus A320 Neo aircraft, expected to be delivered between 2018 and 2020.
