SARAJEVO Zlatko Lagumdzija has said that regional cooperation and relations between Bosnia, Montenegro, Croatia and Serbia "have never been better." The foreign minister of Bosnia-Herzegovina expects the region to make progress in cooperation over the coming year. Bosnian FM praises regional cooperation "There are a number of open issues, but there is also a good will and desire to resolve them," Lagumdzija said. "I expect that in 2014, the year we are observing 100 years since the beginning of World War I, which was started in this very region, in Sarajevo, we will have completed the process of “rebranding” of the region, of turning it from being a region of conflict, turmoil and crisis into a region of cooperation, peace and prosperity," Lagumdzija told Tanjug. Wishing the citizens of Serbia and the entire region a better and more prosperous 2014 and bearing in mind the complexity of all relations in Bosnia,Lagumdzija said that, at first glance, 2013 seems to be one of the least successful years, where all moves ended in a stalemate. "But those following the developments more closely may see that certain progress has been made, not as much as the citizens of Bosnia-Herzegovina may have wanted, but still, it is there," said Lagumdzija, who is also deputy chairman of the Bosnian Council of Ministers and leader of the Social Democratic Party of Bosnia (SDP Bosnia). He pointed out that in 2013, the governments of the two Bosnian entities – the Muslim-Croat Federation and the Serb Republic - agreed a joint participation in the Middle Drina hydropower project, in whose implementation Serbia and Italy should also take part. "It is the biggest investment project in the energy sector kicked off in the region over the past 50 years," Lagumdzija said. (sxc.hu, stock) Tanjug
