Finance committee adopts 2014 budget bill Finance Minister Lazar Krstic took part and stressed that the bill was "realistic and the first step towards fiscal consolidation." The bill is an acknowledgment of the reality Serbia is in, and the government's economic policy is integrated in the next year's budget, he underscored, adding that the 2014 budget would not increase the deficit if adopted. Commenting on remarks that the budget funds meant for Serbia Investment and Export Promotion Agency were insufficient, Krstic responded that around RSD 5.5 billion had been allocated for the agency for the first half of 2014, and that it was in accordance with the law. "I am certain we will see an increase in economic activity at the end of next year," he emphasized. When it comes to the companies undergoing restructuring, they will get RSD 18 billion plus another RSD 2 billion for active employment measures. The salaries of the employees who get paid from the budget are projected to rise by 3.2 percent compared to this year, and there is money in the transition fund to cover severance packages for 15,000-20,000 people, he noted. When it comes to government plans to increase public procurement costs by almost 10 percent, he explained that those were judiciary expenses from an earlier period. (Tanjug, file) Tanjug
