BELGRADE The Belgrade interim administration agreed on the city budget review for 2013 which prevented bankruptcy "at the last moment," Tanjug reported. The budget deficit was reduced by a half without additional loans through savings measures which will not be detrimental to citizens of Belgrade, the news agency said it learned. In this way, the burden caused by the irresponsible attitude of the government so far will not fall on the shoulders of the most financially vulnerable citizens, Tanjug's source close to the interim administration stated. Trips, daily pay and unnecessary contracts for services have been canceled, as well as the unnecessary additional engagement of individuals in companies that already have enough employees for completion of the tasks, and the budgets of all secretariats, save for salaries and social benefits, have also been cut, the source said. According to the budget review, the city's budget deficit will total 3.5 percent, which is two times less than the seven percent deficit envisaged in the budget review prepared in June. The source also said that the budget review will not halt investments of vital importance for the City of Belgrade but the dynamics of investments will be adjusted to the revenues.
