BELGRADE The location permit for the construction of the South Stream gas pipeline in Serbia will be issued on Wednesday, and the building one on Thursday. This was announced by Minister of Natural Resources, Mining and Spatial Planning Milan Bacevic. S. Stream permits "on Wednesday and Thursday" Serbia is completely ready for construction works on the section of this major gas pipeline to start in its territory on November 24, Bacevic told B92. The ministry had earlier finished the spatial plan for the area designated for specific purpose for South Stream, which was a prerequisite for the realization of this huge project, he said. Speaking about the mining rent for oil and gas exploitations in Serbia, which amounts to 3 percent for the Petroleum Industry of Serbia (NIS), Bacevic agreed that this rent is quite low, but noted that thanks to the energy agreement with Russia, NIS invested a lot in the country, and Serbia does not pay gas fines. That mining rent was set in 2008, in line with the interstate agreement between Serbia and Russia, Bacevic said, noting that thanks to that rent, NIS invested around EUR 1 billion in Serbia so far, and will invest around EUR 2 billion. "There is no bigger investor in Serbia than NIS, in which Russia holds a majority stake," Bacevic stressed. (Tanjug, file) B92 Tanjug
