BELGRADE Serbia's Tanjug News Agency celebrated late on Tuesday the 70th anniversary since it was founded by an exhibition of photographs entitled "Tanjug 70." The exhibition was opened by Serbian Parliament Speaker Nebojsa Stefanovic. State news agency Tanjug celebrates 70 years of work Stefanovic addressed the gathering to say that Tanjug was founded "so that the world may learn more about the anti-Fascist fight in the territory of Yugoslavia, and it caused a revolution in the development of social communication." “You have set the standards and earned credibility and influence,” Stefanovic said. Tanjug Director Branka Djukic pointed out that the news agency was now "a reliable media partner and the pillar of support to everyone who have relevance on the media scene and business, both in Serbia and the region, with the annual news output of 350,000 information, video reports and photographs." “Google testifies of the average million views of Tanjug's information annually,” Djukic said. She noted that "during the seven decades of Tanjug's existence, two epochs passed, institutions and ideologies changed, the country was divided and the world changed its outlook." Djukic said that in this period, Tanjug "strived and mostly succeeded" to act as a truthful interpreter of the spirit of the times, to live up to the requests of the profession and adjust to technological changes. “The times are hard, but our responsibility and strength are even greater because of everything we have gone through. We are interested only in the future,” Tanjug director said. The celebration of Tanjug's 70th anniversary was attended by ministers Sasa Radulovic, Rasim Ljajic, Aleksandar Antic, Slavica Djukic-Dejanovic, Dragan Glamocic, and Nebojsa Rodic, presidential advisers Stanislava Pak and Vuk Fatic, state secretaries and MPs, representatives of the diplomatic corps and a number of figures from Serbia's social and cultural scene.
